Rings cast called back for re-shoots

"The Two Towers" are getting some last-minute renovations.

Fox News reports that director Peter Jackson has summoned most of the cast of "Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers" back to New Zealand to re-shoot scenes for the film, which finished principal shooting months ago, and was thought to be ready for release.

Viggo Mortensen, Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler and Ian McKellen are among those heading back to New Zealand for the additional work. Fox said the rumoured re-shoots will include rejigged combat sequences and new love scenes between Mortensen and Tyler.

Jackson filmed all three "Lord Of The Rings" films simultaneously, and was editing "Towers" last year when the first instalment, "Fellowship Of The Ring," was in release.

Fox said it is believed Jackson got some new ideas about how to enhance the second film after he saw the audience reaction to the first one.

New Line, which is producing the trilogy, told Fox News that the re-shoots are minor elements, such as new close-ups. But Fox quoted one source who claimed Jackson's desire to fiddle with "The Two Towers" was inspired by the success of "Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones."

Who did Mortenson play? (I didn't think Tyler's character was in wo Towers itself.)

(I know the book version, but not the movie.)

Who did Mortenson play?

Aragorn. He did a great job too. Easily the best performance of his career, which (to be honest) hasn't been great.

I don't believe any of this frap maq! - They have been down there re-shooting scenes for a while now. No scoop there... I don't think we have to worry about "love scenes" nor do I believe anyone who says PJ was inspired to make his movie better because of "Attack of the Clones". The author of your article is drunk!

The reforging of Narsil/Anduril was delayed in the film until TTT... Arwen delivers it to Aragorn in TTT.... according to the rumors...

To 'bulk-up' the interplay between Viggo Mortensen and Liv Tyler.

Hehehe...hey, you never know Hair!

Perhaps you're right about the Clones-inspiration part. Fox News participating in some 'creative journalism' maybe. ;-)

Love scenes? - Jealousy over the success of Attack of the Clones? Even the Star Wars fanatics can barely tolerate AoTC!

This needed a barf alert maq! - no excuse for it! Fool of a Took! ;~D

The hobbitry-in-arms need to wake up and dust off the armor.... been quite a while since we had a good muster!

Give me the email addy for the source, and we may divert much of the abuse there! Otherwise... you're it!

All in good fun!

Building up Tyler's screen time, then.

His ride (to safety across the river) was solo in the book also, right? (In the movie, he was carried by Tyler's character.)

Yes, in the book he (Frodo) rode alone... Arwen took him on the flight to the ford in the film... Not the way I would have done that part... but a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things... The movie was done beautifully, and a very complex story was crammed into less than three hours. PJ did a fabulous job, all things considered!

Are you going to see it?

I suppose I'll have to....My daughter (16) is "in love" with "Aragon's character" so I'll go with the when they see it again.

(Tooth surgery first though, she's no mood right now to do anything.)

I liked Viggo's portrayal of 'Weps' in "Crimson Tide".

Lucky for you the hobbits all appear to be napping or something anyway... Maybe all the discussion about whether or not to dig a new hobbit hole wore them out. They are hard to muster sometimes. They would rather have a big meal with a few pints and then sleep it off.
