I was just curious and wanting to know what we all do for a living when we're not here scouring the threads of FR. So what do YOU do for a living?

what kind of jazz do you play? what size bands usually?Old mainstream stuff, i.e., the bop-based canon circa 1963. I usually work with duos - quintets, but I've done a pro big band gig every Mon. night for ten years. Some solo piano, and recently (slobbering), an organ trio. 2-4 nights a week, with teaching and all the rest in between.
Thanks fer asking. Opined on your "Best Jazz" thread.

Sorry, had to step away to keep the 4 junior high school girls in my family room from breaking something! It's party night - last day of school. I'm just hoping to get some sleep tonight.

But we also do a good share of Larry Goldings (and Larry Young) material for pleasant contrast. The latter depend on rather challenging arrangements, but we are not on a crusade to blow off our (potential) audience.
I knew Jack casually, as he lived here before he kacked. He had his day, and was a huge influence, but his years in the Twin Cities were not that laudable.

Sure...sure. Thays what you all say when confronted by Frogni vapors. Is it not a fact Laz, that "Frogni vapors" is a euphenism for the odor emanating from your beloved Senator's crusty pant suit?
