Actually Michelle Kwan is dating a hockey player as well..her first 'serious' boyfriend, and I do expect her to be back in 2006 after taking a few years off to finsh her degree at UCLA.

Glad to meet you, Timeout. Where do you ever find the time to do so much? Ditto about the swimming. We bought a house with a pool this past winter, and I can see a huge difference in muscle tone since I started doing daily laps several weeks ago. I've used a treadmill daily to burn calories for the past year and a half, but the swimming really makes all the difference, especially at my age. We ladies don't want those flapping upper arms!

Paris fashion advice: the black pantsuit is a great, versatile idea, but beware of the Hillary Old Crusty box style. Get skinny, fitted pants and a nicely shaped, body hugging jacket!

Rosie should get a clue. I've never seen a 7 year old look at Thomas the Tank Engine with a thought towards gay coupling. Of course, most moms don't burden kids with lifestyle issues, and aren't as progressive and tolerant as Rosie.

You are right, I was at the game. You see, we lost that first game so we can win game 5 at home. Last time we swept the cup we won it away. It will all work out perfectly.

Steve Yzerman with the Stanley Cup. Mr Yzerman happens to live 6 blocks from HLL.

By the way, thank you so much for starting the thread. I am still jetlagging and didn't get to sleep until 4am. This constant rain also keeps me very sleepy. I can't complain, the rain is really helping my flowers get a good start.

You better not go over to the 'News' thread on the game last night.

So far, the Carolina fans have posted pictures of Gomer Pyle, a Hurricane over Michigan, mock cemetery plots with each of the playoff opponents, and todays Charlotte Observer headline in big print-***SHAZAM! 'Boys from Mayberry' defeat Red Wings***

I'm sure the child didn't think up the Thomas the Tank Engine analogy all by himself, which is all the more horrid. That means one of his pseudo-mommies sat him down and explained gay sex to him, using the toy train as a teaching tool. I guess that beats using Barbie and Skipper dolls, but not by much.

The Canes, pffft. As we Yankees say..." If you can't make your own ice, you don't deserve hockey".

I bought those Michel Thomas tapes for my daughter to try to learn Spanish and French with. She didn't use them, but I did, to refresh my memory as I once studied both those languages. I found those tapes very helpful. He does have a great technique, and it brought a lot back to me. I would use them in the car when driving.

And you're right, you definitely don't need a car in Paris! In fact, it wouldn't be safe to drive there; much better to take taxis or walk. We walked all over the place, 2 years ago, literally for miles. And used the metro. I found a metro map on line, will look for it, so you can get used to it. It's the way to go if you want to go some distance, especially. I think you can go out to Versailles, but can't remember for sure, as we didn't go there. metro map

The Eiffel Tower gets terribly crowded, we couldn't even get up there, stood in line for hours, and gave up, but we were there at Easter break, and absolutely every Frenchman from all over France goes to Paris at Easter, which we didn't know ahead of time! So Paris was a madhouse when we were last there.

We did do something that was very memorable, went to Easter mass very early at Notre Dame. Our daughter and her friend wanted to do this and I'm really glad we did. The early mass was in a little chapel behind the main altar, and was quite an experience. Very medieval. Then we went to a bistro nearby for breakfast, and tried to get my daughter's friend to order the escargots, but she wouldn't and still regrets it I think.

And it rained just about the whole time we were there but it was March then. Another great thing to do is to take one of the bateaux mouches along the river, and view the whole city from the boat. Don't miss that. And we didn't get to do the night time ride, just missed the last one. But do a day ride and be sure to do a night ride which is supposed to be spectacular, because the whole city is lit up, and they use spotlights from the boats as you go along!

To get you in the mood, here are some favorite photos of mine, not taken by us, of a beautiful structure. The fireworks display was from the millenium festivities.

Oooo La La! You really are putting me in the mood. Bateaux Mouches is on my list, especially the night tour where they shine the spotlights on the monuments (as well as young lovers) along the Seine. I hadn't thought about Mass at Notre Dame...I'll do that twice! I'd love to hear a high mass as it's been so many years since they stopped them in America. I must get out and get some errands done.

My favorite too! Just lovely. Don't know who took it. I found it years ago on the net, and just had to save it.
