In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. 2. Able; strong; valiant; redoubtable; as, a doughty hero.

Etymology: Middle English, from Old English dohtig; akin to Old High German toug is useful, Greek teuchein to make. Date: before 12th century

I realize it does not take much doughtiness to laugh at Al Gore, but I found this description of his ongoing slide into Pat Paulson-ville too delightful to ignore. The Disneyland analogies were particularly entertaining, but I'm disappointed he didn't follow them to their logical conclusion and call himself Goofy.
