Actually it's called a "knock and talk" and its used all the time by narcotics officers. Our subject may have numerous visitors that piss off her neighbors, or raise their suspicions, or might have been the subject of an annonymous complaint by an vengeful ex-spouse/lover.

Whatever the reason, the Courts have ruled the police can always ask to enter your home - its up to you to say "no."

My question was fueled by the extreme abuse I got on another thread by some of our more brown-shirted postes who seem to think that answering no to the first two questions requires a yes answer to the last two.

Somebody abused you? I'll kick their @ss! Seriously, though, I'm happy to hear that this wasn't resulting from a personal experience. ("No" to all four, btw.)
