If I were Chuck Finley I wouldn't be seen anywhere near the locker room for a while. Husbands who are on the recieving end of spousal abuse are often ostracized and ridiculed. In the macho world of baseball this poor guy is never going to live it down.

Had he called the cops, maybe, but he didn't so I doubt it. These guys all know precisely what would have happened to him if he hit back.

In fact, one of Finley's teammates is Wil Cordero, who got slammed in the media for hitting his wife a few years ago. She's supposedly gotten in all sorts of trouble since and he's been fine (except for not playing the field worth a damn).

Most guys these days don't think there's ever any excuse for hitting a woman. At least I'd like to think that's true.
