What are some of your favorite comedy shows of all time?

For myself, I like Howard Stern's old Channel 9 show, Fawlty Towers, Police Squad, The Young Ones, et al. I'm sure other people have different ideals as to what they consider humorous....

What about "Soap"?

I'll second that ... up until Benson left of course.

The Carol Burnette Show was fabulous.

The bloopers and outtakes from that show are even funnier! Tim Conway's antics would render his castmates into blubbering crying hysterics and the audience would follow suit.

They recently played a Carol Burnette compilation on TV and I had never laughed so hard in a long time. It was far funnier than anything on TV today.

The best part of watching it was seeing them try desperately to hold it together and not lose it on the set.

Yeah, Harvey Korman's face would turn purple. I thought he was having a stroke.

OMG! I had forgotten about the Black Adder. And here I am sitting with the whole BBC "Black Adder" collection on my shelf.

To paraphrase a Simpson's character: "Best Comedy...Ever!"

Fernwood Tonight and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman were very clever and on a par with Monty Python, but too subtle for those who like the laugh track and obvious humor of today.

"Fernwood" was a take-off of Norwood, Ohio, a blue collar town on the outskirts of Cincinnati. Residents of Norwood usually hated these shows but didn't know why. The reason was the humor cut too close to home.

One of the funniest programs I ever saw was The Ben Stiller Show. FOX, sadly, never really gave it a chance. I don't think it even lasted half a season. But they had some wickedly inventive writing. My favorite sketch was a Monkees parody called "The Grungies." I still have that one on tape.

Sid Caesar and Imogene Coca, Ernie Kovaks, George Goble and, of course, Uncle Miltie (Milton Berle)... all from the early days of television, dare I say it, nearly 50 years ago. Wild, zany and LIVE (before tape).
