We cannot let New York City developer Larry Silverstein dictate the terms of rebuilding.
NEW YORK -- Something is wrong with the sky above ground zero.
There is too much of it.
In the skyscraper canyons of Manhattan's financial district, where the old Art Deco towers crowd twisting medieval streets, you can only see slivers of sky. You almost wonder, here in this capital of capitalism, if someone actually might charge you for watching the clouds go by.

Some interesting points on the transportation and demographic effects for non-New Yorkers. And whereas I agree that a single developer should not have complete control over the project, the idea of "all those disparate voices will help to build a better city than the centralized power of the Port Authority did." hardly breeds confidence.

Sounds like the guy just wants to replace the '70s' mentality with a '21st century' mentality. Whatever they do, I just hope they've grown out of the Post modern Bauhaus look that is SO depressing! I'd like to see some beauty in the contruction!
