So I'm thinking for NaNoWriMo that my story about the conservative think tank needs a science fiction twist with a portal where the antagonist travels back and forth to a liberal think tank...
Trying to piece it all together, I've realized that if I write about what really happened no one will believe it...

You could make it a literal think tank - brains floating around in liquid... um, how are you going to get 50,000 words out of that? If you can, of course, more power to you. And of course you can always have a bunch of dwarves walk in halfway through the first chapter. That would be good for a few days of stuff!

I still have no clue about what to write for NaNoWriMo. The way things have been going this week, if it isn't about axing incompetents at work, it's taking on PETA at a TX vs NC barbecue cook-off. :)
