I remember my wife thinking the same thing, about an hour before my daughter was born.

She was at the stage of labor called "transition" where they don't make much sense and, in her pain, said to me, "I've had about enough of this s#$t! let's go home! It was too late to go home though, and we soon had a baby girl. After that I did go home and celebrate with a vodka while my wife slept at the hospital.

LOL!! Been there, done that four times!! Thankfully, I never had a transition that lasted over 1/2 a hour. I never really had a bad time with any of them, except the first, when they induced me. Nasty! The doctor 'offered' to induce me with my last one because I was a few days late delivering. I told him what he could do with THAT stuff!
