When I was a kid, we always had a "traditional" Christmas, go out on the farm and cut down a tree, decorate the house, lights in some of the bushes, presents, Christmas Eve parties, all that stuff, but we also had no poblem keeping on task about the true meaning of the holiday. I have happy family type memories of it all.

It's true that all the commercialization of Christmas gets way out of hand and can be a little nauseating.

Yet I find that lots of folks seem to be in such a good mood around the holidays. I know part of this is just from the festive time of year, but I'm sure that another part is because everyone is thinking of others for a change. We're all out there trying to think of how to make our loved ones happy for Christmas. I really think that thinking of others has a tendency to lift our spirits.

Not to put a damper on the holiday mood. But I seriously think my family will be dealing with the loss of my father-in-law this Christmas. The news changes on a daily basis.
