From what my wife has told me... there was a female writer of Trek fanfics back-in-the-day (seventies, I think) who placed thinly-veiled versions of herself (always named Mary Sue) into her stories. Said character always wound up saving the ship and having a passionate romance with one of the Big Three (Kirk, Spock, or McCoy). She wasn't the only writer who did this unfortunately, but the term "Mary Sue" eventually grew to include all such fanfiction.

I'm being a bad Beorning, slacking off at work. But it's Friday, and I'm just in too good of a mood to worry too much about it...
Not entirely unlike my reaction to the Yoda/Saruman match-up.
Poor ol' Scotty never had as much screen time as the Big Three. Plus, he never had as many love interests as the others. Even the supposedly cold and emotionless Spock, who was only supposed to mate once every seven years, had more romances than Scotty did.
Disgusting. Most of the commentators were responsible and appropriate, but there were a couple of Nazguls. One in particular would make me want to roast some sheep, rather than cabrito.
Scotty had a thing for the warp drive...
Spock may be dead, but:
