Hi Rosie, nice to see you again, good luck on Thursday.

I think it could be a good idea to wear some of those toe warmers waiting on line.

Toe warmers?? Whatsat?

Just (a few minutes ago) located another actual job opening. In town, right salary range, and matches my skills. Downside? It's evenings. I guess I better go apply tomorrow just the same. Wish I knew where it was, though! It's an ad posted through the state employment office, and they don't give contact info for the actual company or even mention the company's name.

"Toe warmers?? Whatsat?"

They are little flat packages, something like teabags, that you put in your shoes, under your socks. Then, when you wiggle your toes, they produce heat for a couple hours. You have to wiggle every so often, though, to keep them going. But they are great, my toes getting cold has always been a problem for me, even with 2 pairs of winter socks and thinsulate boots. The toe warmers make them OK.

In Miami, I get them in the ski shop. But I think places that sell hunting or camping gear may also have them.

I would make sure that the new opening is a legitimate and reputable company, if it is, then I think you should check it out and maybe apply, in case the other one doesn't work out.

Define legitimate and reputable!

Seriously, I think the Employment and Training office checks job listings before accepting them, so they're probably all right. It's just frustrating that they're working behind a screen, so to speak - to apply, I have to give a resume and cover letter to the employment office folks, who will then pass it to the actual company. I'm going to go to the office tomorrow to see if they can give me more info than just a job description, but I don't know if they're allowed to do so.

OK folks. Got everything cleaned but still cannot access Windows Update. I've got XP (grrrr) and it's asking for an "administrator". Guess what? I am the administrator. I've tried everything and still nothing.

So, I give up for tonight. I'm going to go watch CSI:Miami and then to sleep.

See you all in the morning!

Ruthy, make sure your account has "Administrator" privileges. If you're using the Administrator account already, then I'm clueless!

Rosie, hope the new job possibility turns out to be something worthwhile... even if it starts in the evenings there may be the chance of moving to a different shift after you've been there a little while.

I'm tired, so I think I'm going to do the sensible thing and go to bed (even though it is early for me!)

Good night all!

Thanks for posting the Tulsa Line Party info. I plan on attending it if my schedule will allow it tomorrow. Which radio station will be there? If I had to guess, it would be 106.9.

Hey there... ready for TTT? I'm practicing drinking beer and not getting sleepy. One of these days I'll get it right...

Read an awesome review of TTT today. Guy was impressed with FOTR, but admitted to not being a big Tolkien fan, but still said that TTT was orders of magnitude better than FOTR. I'm taking that as a good sign. :-)

I don't know... in a legal business, and not trying to take advantage of the new employee? But apparently the not saying who they are is SOP and not to worry, I guess?

Best luck, though, Rosie.

Go into the users admin module. Make your current profile name a member of the "Admins" group. That should do it.

Hi Ramius, thanks again much for the instructions and help, I've just about got them done.

I might have a problem drinking beer before the movie, I think.

Late? Nine-ish should be no problem...

Bring your DVD, and I'll bring my laptop. We can watch FOTR while we wait in line. Batteries will be charged and ready... :-)

Longer wait for RETURN OF THE KING?
Wood lets slip interesting tidbit

Dateline: Monday, December 16, 2002

While recently discussing this week's highly anticipated opening of THE TWO TOWERS, Elijah Wood made a comment that can rightly be considered interesting. The comments were in response to a journalist's remark about the difficulty in waiting another year for the final film of the trilogy.

Wood said, sympathetically, "I know, and it might be longer too."

The film or the wait, Elijah?

The young actor backtracked, responding disingenuously, "What? I didn't say anything."
