The answer is undoubtedly B!!!

Speak ill of Rivendell or Lothlorien and this little Hobbit-lass will go absolutely dwarf-like on you!! LOL!

When speaking about Elves is it better to: A) Bash them whenever you can, or B)Not bash them?

Poor lass...she's been in the Hole for ten minutes and you're already asking her to pick sides on the elf bashing issue!

You get the largest helping of mushrooms for my error.

Grilled Marinated Portabello Mushrooms

4 large fresh portabello mushroom caps
3 cups dry red wine
2 tbsp. shallots or red onions (minced)
2 tbsp. fresh garlic (chopped)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 Tbsp. fresh rosemary (chopped)
1/2 tsp. dry thyme
To taste salt and pepper

Place mushrooms in a shallow pan; combine remaining ingredients and pour over the top of the mushrooms. Marinate for 1-2 hours, turning once. Remove from marinade and cook on hot grill for 3 minutes on each side. Slice and serve as a side dish or main course.

Speaking for the resident dwarves in The Hobbit Hole, we love Rivendell and Lothlorien. It's just the snooty inhabitants we can't stand...

Go easy on Sam, Rosie.

You know how much he loves Frodo. I'm sure it's something relatively important for Sam to leave you.

He wouldn't anger his Gaffer for nothing, I imagine.

Snooty they may seem, but they love destroying orcs as much as any dwarf.

There is much to say about that.

Squirrels?

If which kind do you speak? No creature bothers me as long as they stay out of my garden.

Yeah, but that's little more than family infighting...

I see from your home page that you are a fellow Floridian. Sam Cree is down your way. I believe we have decided to have an Entmoot in Florida sometime in December 2003/January 2004 to celebrate the release of The Return of the King.

What was your reaction to the movie version of FoTR?

Welcome to the Hobbit Hole RM!! It's a fun place. I'm fairly new here myself. My dwarf name is Vim Bronzehand, and I used to feel as you did about elves, but just wait a while before you decide. Ruthlessly snooty those elves are.... You will learn a thing or two about them here that may make you change your mind. Limousine liberals they are at heart...

And it is so much fun to bash them....

When I was a kid, we always had a "traditional" Christmas, go out on the farm and cut down a tree, decorate the house, lights in some of the bushes, presents, Christmas Eve parties, all that stuff, but we also had no poblem keeping on task about the true meaning of the holiday. I have happy family type memories of it all.

It's true that all the commercialization of Christmas gets way out of hand and can be a little nauseating.

Yet I find that lots of folks seem to be in such a good mood around the holidays. I know part of this is just from the festive time of year, but I'm sure that another part is because everyone is thinking of others for a change. We're all out there trying to think of how to make our loved ones happy for Christmas. I really think that thinking of others has a tendency to lift our spirits.

Corin, orcs and elves have about as much in common as Saruman and Gandalf.

And elves smell a lot nicer.

Ok, quick trivia question. I was reading FoTR last night and I came across a quote of Gandalf's, in his letter to Frodo that Butterburr delivered, it seemed to indicate that Gandalf was responsible for the Rangers protecting the Shire.

Does anyone know if this is true? Why are the Rangers protecting the Shire? How did they know the Shire needed protecting?
