Broken with pain, with a knot in the throat and without being able to believe that this is true, from the CD Tenerife we communicate the tragic death, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00 hours, of Jesús de Miguel Alameda.
There are no words of comfort; there is absolutely nothing that mitigates this feeling full of sadness. We stand with his desolate family, together with his loved ones, along with all the Tenerifenism that today mourns this cruel outcome.
The family of Jesús de Miguel thanks each and every one of the signs of support received, and also requests, from the heart, maximum respect for their privacy, in these terrible moments.
Context:
A soccer player from the Island of Tenerife (off America) has died from an on-field collision.
Public service announcement:
That link took me to the NBC site, but then I got redirected to a site which caused my browser to flash up a red warning screen.
Here’s a Disney/ESPN report on the death:
For those who don’t follow soccer, a striker is high scoring forward. The term is equivalent to a center or power forward in basketball or hockey.

Canary Islands ???
Who? What?
Oh. A famous Soccer player.
Soccer fans tend to be very passionate about their champions.
A lot like what we do with football, baseball, hockey and basketball players, but not quite the same. With most soccer fans, their sports champion is often also their national zeitgeist champion too. This especially in areas outside the U.S. where the working class is a bigger portion of the population.
Goalie did it on purpose. There was an earlier incident with this same player that left him angry, and this was cle3ar retribution. Should be 1st degree manslaughter + 20 year sentence. But he’s African so no charges will even be filed.
Hit in the chest with a knee...Sounds like commotio cordis...
Or he already got severe cardiac contusion from the blow, or a pre-existing cardiac problem.
Hope they do a thorough post mortem exam.
They will probably amend the rules to include no contact above the waist using legs and/or in groin area. (I am assuming they have no rules already)
