An Education in Irreparable Harm: Gender Dysphoria

In 2016, the California School Board Association suggested changes to an administrative regulation that prevented teachers from telling parents about their student’s social gender transition at school—unless the student said it was OK. Most school districts in California adopted the changes without question.

MASON AND LISA WILLIAMS first learned that their youngest daughter, Laney, was secretly transitioning at school when they saw a different name in her profile on Schoology, an online learning management system. “Without our consent, she had gone to the administration in September 2021 and asked them to change her name and pronouns,” Lisa said. “And they did not tell us about that. We didn’t know anything.”

During that school year, Laney had formed a close relationship with a teacher who was also the staff adviser for a Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) club on campus. Her friend group, many of whom identified as LGBTQ, began addressing her by her new name.

A school friend believed their refusal to use Laney’s new name and pronouns was abuse, and the friend’s mother reported them. “So we had a CPS investigation going on just for keeping our own daughter in the safety of our home and pulling her away from those influences,” Mason said.

My son’s wife while attending an event related to her business had a school principal say he would definitely not want his children or grandchildren involved in public education here. They decided to send their children to Trinity Lutheran which has prospered in Bend for nearly a century.

A couple from my son’s church was informed that based on a survey given to entering middle school children, their son could benefit from the LGBTQ+ club. They were called repeatedly and always refused. Finally, they asked if they could visit a club meeting and see the curriculum. The school answered no to both requests. The next call was from the State of Oregon expressing their concerns. The couple immediately quit their jobs and moved out of the state. Here is what can happen.

EXCERPT: A Christian mom and her husband are fighting back in court after Oregon’s Department of Human Services determined that they caused “mental injury” to her daughter by refusing to “affirm” her transgender identity. Child Protective Services took custody of her then-15-year-old daughter, K.A., on July 18, 2024, one day after Calaway and K.A. terminated the services of K.A.’s therapist, Jennifer Forster. According to court documents, Forster filed the complaint that resulted in K.A.’s removal. ODHS notified the Calaways that the agency considered them “responsible for the mental injury” of K.A. “Your adverse reactions to [K.A.] expressing their gender identity have caused serious harm to [K.A.’s] psychological functioning,” ODHS caseworker Rachel Woods wrote in a Sept. 13 letter.

In Oregon the problem exists not only in Democrat strongholds in the Willamette Valley, but on the coast. The school library at Lincoln City proudly proclaimed “A gender affirming closet” where students would be able to choose clothes, makeup, and accessories to express themselves at school, even though parents did not support those choices. What this means is that there will be a room full of clothes, makeup, and accessories for students to request. Many students that are transgender and/or nonbinary are not supported by their parents nor can showcase it with their daily clothing choices.

Physiatry and Phycology are of no help, because they have abandoned what tenuous hold they once had on science. (Another long post) Their warped view of sexual deviance now swims among the few inert snatches of science that remain. The mercurial catechisms invading social media which these discipline now cherish are actually contagious, barbaric ideologies pretending to be medical science. Efforts to help people live according to their self-evident anatomy is called “conversion therapy” and is considered bad. However, indoctrination often followed by brutal chemical treatments, and surgical interventions designed to destroy the person’s natural sexual identity is called “gender affirming care” and is good. With this language in place conversations cannot even begin.

This article is terrible.

Education is in irreparable harm because progressives have been indoctrinating students for well over half a century. The idea that now and only now, through gender dysphoria, is damage irreparable is simply unacceptable.

So what. The next big thing of progressivism is going to make gender dysphoria acceptable?

Gender dysphoria made the last big thing acceptable if this article is to be believed. No, none of it is acceptable!

It’s crazy. The amount of surrender here is infuriating.
