In the Democrat scheme of things, when one is losing an election, the thing to do is to keep on producing and counting ballots until one gets the result one wants.
We saw that in 2020, we saw that in the Los Angeles mayoral primary.
But now we see it in Brazil's election, where a socialist judge who had served as President Luiz Inacio 'Lula' da Silva's personal lawyer decided to increase voting by two hours -- after all the conservative districts had shut down their operations and could not restart their voting machines.
🚨 COUP: In American terms, what Brazil's Supreme Court just did in tonight's election to Bolsonaro is let a place like deep-blue Broward County FL keep voting while red Lee County has to shut their polls down. Let Detroit vote while Macomb can't. Let Dane and Madison WI vote while the red WOW counties can't. Let Philly vote while Butler and Westmoreland can't. HOW IS THIS ALLOWED?! If this happened in America, there would be thousands in the streets. WAKE UP, BRAZIL!!

Net result? Lula defeated conservative presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro even after the latter had squarely won round one with margin to spare and smaller parties likely to consolidate to him.
Never happened like that before.
Bolsonaro put on a brave face and vowed to soldier on:
🇧🇷 Flávio Bolsonaro is understandably pissed at the way Lula manipulated yesterday's elections in Brazil: "I will not accept that the rules of the game were changed at the last minute, once again, by Lula's friends in the Federal Supreme Court. It is inexplicable that this happened. There is a lot to be clarified before Brazil simply recognizes this dirty trick that took place in these elections.

Pretty blatant.
Playing to win. Optics be damned.
He won by 3 or 4 million votes...Brazilians want this (assuming that the vote is real which I have no way of determining). Not sure why anyone else should care but I also don’t see why trading with Brazilians is necessary.
Show of hands for those that didn’t expect this result. Hello? Anyone? Bueller? 🙄
All the betting sites had the other guy winning.
The betting sites are a much more accurate prediction of who will win a race than any public polls.
“It worked didn’t it?”

Raise your hand if you didn’t kind of expect this to happen.
Brazil is in BRICS , China wasn’t going to allow their guy to lose even if they were forced to cheat in the open like this.
Really? I seriously doubt that. I didn't see too many people in the streets in 2020. Didn't see any in the streets in LA this year. And those that did show up in D.C. in 2020 were both unable to effectively redress their grievances, and quite severely punished for trying.
Didn’t Canada’s Carney have Canada join BRICS as well? Must be why the place is falling apart ,LOL
I doubt that. The betting sites are all based on “feels” and public polls. I’m sure they’d let me bet on an election in Brazil but I also don’t know anything about elections in Brazil.
Yup! And I still call the airport McCarran. 😊🛫🛬👍🇺🇸
Just like with Maduro, the US needs to call this out as a corrupt election, declare Lula illegitimate, refuse to recognize his government and impose severe sanctions on Brazil until such time as democracy is restored.
Round 1:
🏆Bolsonaro: 56.1 million votes
Lula: 53.9 million votes
Round 2:
🏆Lula: 64.1 million votes (+10.2M)
Bolsonaro: 59.8 million votes (+3.7M)
To give you an idea of how unlikely this is: all the eliminated candidates from round 1 got 9.33M VOTES COMBINED

More info makes the math worse:
> The top 4 candidates from round 1 were all right-wingers (3 endorsed Bolsonaro)
> Round 2 only had 2.6M more voters
Another comment from the thread on X:
This smells exactly like Nicolas Maduro’s socialist party “wins” in Venezuela after they took over the electoral body, packed the Ven Supreme Court, and reprogrammed the voting machines. Same playbook to the letter.
Lula’s “win” is also beyond implausible because:
1. Bolsonaro was well ahead in the actual vote count until they got to the ⅔ or so counted, at which point Lula suddenly got a massively disproportionate share of all remaining votes. Statistically impossible in a country where Lula’s party does NOT dominate the cities, mostly Bolsonario in central and southern cities, which are the biggest.
2. The two largest parties that did NOT make the second around were conservative and endorsed Bolsonaro.
3. They expect us to believe that:
> Lula increased his vote total by 19.26% (10.03M votes) from Round 1 to Round 2 when the large majority of votes for candidates NOT making the cut were right wing.
> Bolsonaro only increased his vote total by 6.6% (3.7M votes) when right wing parties not making the cut alone had over 6.6% (6.49M votes) in Round 1.
I cannot see any explanation for this beyond straight Chavista/Maduro style election fraud.
Brazilians have reached the stage where they are either going to kill communists or live under them.
Lula wins, Orban loses. Vučić wins.
Lula wins, Orban loses. Vučić wins.
Now to boot Netanyahu and take out the magas on November 3.
Next year, LePen needs to be thoroughly crushed. Everyone blames the far left for the French violence but it’s funny how that violence benefits LePen and not Melanchon.
AfD needs to be put down as well.
