John Anderson, best known for country music hits like “Swingin’” and “Straight Tequila Night,” has died.
The singer-songwriter died on Wednesday, Oct. 21, his family shared in a statement on social media.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and best friend,” the statement began. “To the world, he was a gifted country music singer whose voice and songs touched countless lives. To us, he was so much more. He was the heart of our family, the one who made us laugh, loved us fiercely, and made every ordinary moment feel special. We are completely heartbroken.”
The family continued, “His music will live on, but for us, his greatest legacy will always be the love he gave his family and the memories we will carry with us forever. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this unimaginable loss.”
Anderson was married to his wife, Jamie, for over 40 years — and they shared two daughters, Alexa and Brionna. He was also “Pop” to multiple grandchildren.

Rest In Peace my friend. You were one of my few exceptions when it came to listening to country music.

I can’t cut grass without “Her daddy was in the backyard, mowing up the garden hose... “ running through my head. very memorable song. I liked a lot of his music.

HORRIBLE. Many great tunes. Condolences to John Anderson’s family and friends. R.I.P.,sir.
“Seminole Wind” is a tradition at FSU games.
Seminole Wind and Money in the Bank were also good.
God Bless his family and help them get through this. John is with his Father God in Heaven now, singing with the angels as they celebrate another saint come Home. We’re sad now but also celebrating John Anderson translating from death into spiritual Life in Heaven.
It’s hard to beat John Anderson for some good ol’ country twang!
His wife is a great musician as well and was in his band.
That’s “John”, and not “Jon”, the Yes singer. Jon is still going strong.
If you were a red blooded American young man you more than likely lived this one out....I know I did:

I’m very sorry to hear this. He was a great songwriter and a really talented performer.
She just started liking cheatin’ songs
And what’s bothering me
I don’t know if it’s the cheatin’ she likes
Or just the melodies . . .
1959:
Cigarettes were a quarter then Bobby-socks and jeans were in
Elvis sang the songs that we loved so
And the most important thing to us was keeping gas in my old truck
So I could take us to the drive-in show
Then graduation finally came Uncle Sam called me away
You married someone else while I was gone
But I kept your letters all these years and I can’t help but shed a tear
When I read the words you wrote me years ago
Baby I’m yours I’ll love you always
I’m gonna stand by you until the end of time
Remember all of the good things that we shared together
Signed love Betty 1959
I never will forget the day . . .
Rest In Peace, John Anderson.
Seminole Wind great song RIP
They should retire “Swingin’” forever from playlists in memory of him.
