Okay, so apparently Katie Zacharia didn't work out as press secretary. However, is there a chance she could have remained on that job if she wasn't so nervous at the get-go? In fact, could she have been able to get over that hump of first day nerves if she had been calmed down by just a few shots of whiskey (or rum or vodka)?
I say this from some personal experience. I spent a couple of summers years ago traveling the race car circuit (NASCAR, Indy 500, and other car races) in the Midwest, East Coast, and the South. No I did NOT race. Instead I was able to watch the races while earning some decent money. I was lucky because when I started doing it BluBlockers were a big thing (remember those?). Therefore I sold knock off BluBlockers at the races where the folks tailgated. Also I was lucky in that I soon found a wholesale source for BluBlockers in the wraparound Viper style which had more of a coppery tint which I marketed as "High Definition BluBlockers."
My shtick was simple. I would walk among the rows of the tailgaters and yell out "Hi Definition Blublockers" while holding out in my hand a Viper style Blublocker (which technically didn't block blue). What typically would happen would be that the first or maybe second tailgating group would show no interest in the Blublockers. However, my cheerful attitude would almost always arouse the curiosity at least one person in the third or fourth group of tailgaters. I would hand the guy a blublocker to try on and, with my upbeat attitude helping out, he almost always would buy a pair. Then more often than not, the rest of his group would try them out and also bought the BluBlockers.
Upon seeing what happened the previous group of tailgaters would call me back over to check out the glasses and most/all of them would also buy. A chain reaction would go into effect in which everybody seeing what happened in the nearby tailgate groups would eagerly call me over to check out and buy the Viper "Hi Definition Blueblockers (which actually didn't block blue).
I got pretty good at it. The result was earning about $300 to $400 per hour (my record was almost $800 in one hour at the Brooklyn, MI raceway.)
So I was doing great... except for the day I couldn't make a sale. Not a single sale. That was at the Oswego Speedway in Upstate NY. What happened is my attitude was really lousy that day. Why? Because the night before while trying to sleep in my minivan just outside the Speedway where the tailgaters parked a group of loud annoying teenagers were partying all night and kept me awake most of the night. Also it pissed me off because they were bragging about stealing a large cooler of beer from another tailgater.
So the next morning I started doing my Viper sales routine resulting in NO sales for over an hour. No matter how hard I tried I could not do a single sale despite normally racking up hundreds of dollars worth of sales an hour at other races.
I soon realized the problem was my lousy attitude. To rectify that situation I left the track area and walked a couple of blocks to a liquor store and purchased 3 minibottles of whiskey. I knew 2 bottles would be enough and the third bottle would fortify me later although I chugged that one down too.
Well, it worked like a charm. My nerves loosened up and I immediately wracked up sales again. As icing on the cake, one group of tailgaters I encountered were large Canadians cursing over the fact that their cooler of beer had been stolen during the night. Not only did I inform the group who the thieves were but led them to their location and watched with great pleasure as they grabbed the teenagers and put deep fear into them while screaming curses directly into their faces.
So that is why I think Katie Zacharia could have remained on the job if she she had medicated herself with a couple (or 3) minibottles of whiskey.

No more press conferences. F'em.
I would have done shots with her....
Being comfortable, confident and natural when speaking in public is a talent. If it’s not natural to you, or hasn’t been honed through experience, you can’t ‘drink’ it into yourself.
or even beta blockers (for those opposed to liquid courage)
I met Katie Hopkins just recently. Told her my sincere hope was that Trump would have offered her the job when he was reelected. She lit up at the idea and enthusiastically replied she would do it ‘TOMORROW’.
She was on tour in the SF Bay area just before the GOP mid term convention in Texas. Why she wasn’t invited there to speak is beyond me. It’s not too late but what do I know?
What the heck happened exactly?

Liquid Confidence has amazing powers if used wisely. Truly, I have seen shy people knock a public speaking event out of the park when slightly inebriated, but bomb when sober. The key is not to drink too much!
So you’ve never had a real job, have you?
Now you just rip off videos for a few bucks.
You are truly a loser.
humm. well, that’s one way to improve performance, assuming you’re not prone to addiction.
Herbert basically had it right. “Fear is the mind killer.” “Fear not...” is probably the most occurring phrase in the Bible. you got to work yourself past that, if you’re going to operate at a high level in life.
Perhaps that’s how Kamala Harris developed her habit.
To cope with public speaking, as well as other requirements of her early political career....
No official in a Republican administration can show fear or these fake news media jackals will tear them apart.
With very few exceptions, Trump Two has picked people who can really take care of themselves. I didn’t watch any of her press conferences - I assume she is a lovely person but not everyone can be a Carolyn Leavitt.
Alcohol - part of the problem or solution!
James Woods is the one!
No. Not at all interested.
It seems to have worked for KJP with O’Bidenskyyy.
My feelings too. This is their blowback for some of their esteemed colleagues being banned from the WH press room.
