Talarico's vacation: The verdict
American Thinker ^ | 15 Oct, 2026 | J.R. Dunn

The verdict is in on James Talarico’s little Agatha Christie escapade, and worshippers in the House of the Donkey are going to be less than pleased.

The polls, for the first time in months, have Ken Paxton in the lead. The Quantus Insights poll is widely considered to be the most accurate, for what that’s worth. (It was the only poll to get 2024 right.) Quantus has Paxton at 47.2 to Talarico’s 46.7. A half a point does not seem earth-shattering, but you also have to throw in the GOP correction that nobody likes to talk about, which in previous elections has ranged from 3 to 5% (Current research now states that it has reached 6.2%.) YouTube poll Election Time gives an impressive total of Paxton at 55.1% against 44.9% for the Boy Wonder. Realistic? Maybe not. But the real importance of polls is to show you where the wind is blowing, and right now, it’s gale force against Little Jimmy.

Perhaps more telling is the response of the Democrats themselves. Dan Turrentine, one of the more sensible Dem strategists, is appalled at how the campaign is handling the disappearance. “They have not put stuff… I would put my primary care physician in front of the cameras, ‘he had a 103-degree fever, dehydration, we were afraid he would pass out.’ Whatever! I would put the urgent care receipt… I would flood the zone… and the fact that they haven’t, today, makes me a little nervous.”

They’re not putting it out because they don’t have it. That much was made clear by CNN’s Townhall infomercial for Talarico, which was a perfect opportunity to clear everything up, and did everything but. Instead, they handled Little Jimmy with kid gloves throughout – he’s been sick, you see. He had the flu.

Talarico is such a strange person. That he could be that high in the polls does not speak much for democRAT sanity.

No it speaks to the power of the DSA network of taxpayer NGO grift funded entities that put forward and support the Talaricos of this world.

The polls are complete nonsense. He’s on track to lose by a large margin.

The strangest thing about Talarico’s leaving the campaign trial
is his rank stupidity in not having staff brief voters about it.

Did he not know this would raise lots of questions
and generate all sorts of conspiracies about himself?

Is he that stupid?

Republicans have milked this issue to the max. They now need to resume telling voters how Talerico is going to wreck America.

Talarico’s vacation = democrat’s BIDEN BASEMENT STRATEGY they used in 2020 election.

They are trying to lock him in the closet until the election is over. They know it would be impossible to defend all his comments over the years. They take him off the campaign trail until the issues pass. Sort of like the old rope-a-dope strategy the Clinton’s used so much.

A “rope-a-dope” strategy in politics is a deliberate tactic where a candidate or political actor stays quiet, plays defense, or absorbs attacks to let their opponents overextend, waste energy, and exhaust themselves before launching a counterattack.

I’m sure I could get me PC doc to release a statement explaining my absence if I truly had the flu and went to him for treatment. And as for the Urgent care, all they have to do is give them permission to release the records of his visit to show when, where and for what. Easy peasy. The fact they’ve done neither is telling.

“They’re not putting it out because they don’t have it.”

Getting doctors to lie is trivial.

They got to be experts at it during Covid.

An important thing to know about both polls is the Quinnipiac University Poll, that has Cruz up by nine points, and the Ipsos Poll, that gives O'Rourke a two-point lead, can't be compared to polls we've seen in the past because of who the researchers are polling.

I don't trust polls especially in tight races

Exactly. Just a post to his X account....”Hey, I’m sick. Be back on the trail ASAP.” He didn’t even have to write it himself.

I find it hard to believe that the good people of Texas would elect this guy. He is even more far out than Beto. However, the good people of South Dakota elected and reelected George McGovern so you can fool all of the people some of the time.
