White House investigating Alina Habba’s claim that $6 million donation went missing under Ric Grenell’s leadership at Kennedy Center

WASHINGTON — A bitter feud has erupted among President Trump’s close allies as Alina Habba, his former personal attorney who served as the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey, accuses ex-intelligence director and diplomat Ric Grenell of failing to deposit millions of dollars donated by her Turkish billionaire husband to the Kennedy Center.

Habba, 42, married Turhan Mildon, 29, last month and told Trump on Friday in the Oval Office that Grenell failed to deposit $5.6 million from Mildon meant for the center, which Grenell led until March as executive director.

The president, who has sought to renovate the performing arts venue and rebrand it to include his name, referred the allegations to White House Counsel Will Scharf for further investigation.

Habba’s claims were first reported by Axios, whose account of the Oval Office meeting was confirmed to The Post by a White House official, who did not share their assessment of the veracity of the claim, and a second person close to the administration, who believes Habba’s charge.

An administration official told The Post that Grenell allegedly convinced Mildon in early 2025 to make a $17.6 million wire transfer as part of a business deal the two were partnering on, of which $5.6 million was supposed to go to the center. The official was unaware of which company allegedly received the funds.

Three additional sources who are otherwise critical of Grenell, however, told The Post they doubt Habba’s claims.

A White House official said they were “very skeptical it’s true.” Another administration official said he views Grenell as “crooked” but that the Kennedy Center’s current leaders lack evidence to substantiate Habba’s tale. A person close to the White House called Grenell “self-destructive” but not “that dumb.”

Team Trump should have listened to the MANY people warning them about Grenell. Truly one of the worst choices Trump has ever made.

Of the two, Habba and Grenell, I trust Grenell more. I put her in the same bucket as Kimberly Guilfoyle and Pam Bondi. (All three are attorneys, not that that has anything to do with it. Probably.) I could be wrong, but in my mind she always has come across as a self-promoting, self-absorbed, arrogant, shallow bimbo. (In my own mind; I could be wrong.)

I know nothing about this story except that this part makes no sense at all:

“Grenell allegedly convinced Mildon in early 2025 to make a $17.6 million wire transfer as part of a business deal the two were partnering on, of which $5.6 million was supposed to go to the center. The official was unaware of which company allegedly received the funds.”

So you’re making a $12m investment in a deal, and then you’re also making a tax deductible donation of $5.6m to the Kennedy Center and you send both of those payments as one wire? For what? Just to annoy your accountant? Give the IRS something to audit you for?

I agree.

Also, shouldn’t there be a paper trail of this agreement.

Are we supposed to believe that millions of dollars are changing hands where the terms were all completely verbal?

I had high hopes for Alina Habba, but now she’s married to a Turkish billionaire, it says all i need to know.

If, indeed, a bimbo, she’s way more intelligent and way less garish than most.

” Just to annoy your accountant”

Yeah, I bought some listed MLPs to compare to the ETF that also owns them.

Apparently some MLP action is taxable even if owned in a Roth account.

We’ll see if my guy jacks up my bulls going forward.

I thought so too, but married 3 times? Divorced December 2025, and engaged in early 2026, and then married in September 2026. Moves pretty quick, kind of like a Black Widow.

Good catch, and you are 100% correct. To save what, a $250 wiring fee, for something of that size?

It makes no sense at all.

His accountant, hell. What about his lawyer? You just wire that kind of money around without an agreement in place about what its for. Like so if it is successful you can apportion the profits or divvy up the shares and if it goes south you can apportion the losses?

Good question.

I wanted my house painted and somehow ended up with a painter who thought a handshake was good enough. It probably would have been, but I hand wrote a minimal contract, made sure we both signed it and gave him a copy. He did a good job and I paid him.

One doesn’t send a $5 million donation within a $17 million dollar payment and be “promised” it’s going to go to the right place. No accountant in the world would allow that to happen because the donation would have been considered when tax time rolled around.

So either the wife was not told it was corruption, or she is just an idiot. I am going with, “she is an idiot.”

I read this yesterday in a different publication that was a scrambled hot mess but it made me think that her husband is duping her and she’s fighting on his behalf without even knowing the facts
