After a week in the Bahamas, I’m baaack, and I’ve got quite a few things to write on, but I’ll start with this one: I had the pleasure of meeting several white South African citizens while there, but interestingly enough, they had radically different versions of what’s going on in their nation.
We flew into Nassau, but then spent a majority of the trip in the Exumas, which is a long island chain to the east, and it was there in a small grocer that we met a wonderful South African man named Dewet, who’d been in the area for the past two years, working on a number of construction projects. Naturally because of his accent, where he was from was obvious, and considering my interests, the topic immediately went to the political situation in South Africa. According to Dewet, every single person he knows back home has either been the victim of anti-white violence, or, knows of someone who’d been hurt or murdered. In fact, Dewet’s own father had been shot (not killed) during a robbery, over a very small sum of money.
Dewet got a little giddy when we talked about President Trump’s confrontation with South African president Cyril Ramaphosa—I proudly revealed to him that Trump used articles published by the very outlet I work for—and was thankful that the terrorizing and slaughter of white farmers was being made global news. He also said his ex-wife and twin daughters were in the process of coming to the states, under Trump’s refugee priorities, because South Africa is not safe for them at all.
Of course, Dewet’s perspective and experiences were exactly what I’d expect from a white South African, as they matched what I see in the news on a consistent basis.

South Africa is on the path to becoming Zimbabwe.
Same thing with me. I know, and constantly meet, white South Africans. I admit I am not as familiar with black South Africans
If its young men, or elderly men they all say - “yes, its a shit show.”
If its middle-aged women, even those who have experienced danger there, its almost always “its fine. you just need to be careful”
I met a company owner at a conference. With his employees around it was the same “well, there’s problems, but people are good and it will be OK”
When he is out for drink afterwards, alone, he will tell you political horror stories.
I believe that cognitive dissonance allows people to hold both views in their head at the same time as a survival mechanism.
One if for political and social survival, the other is for private/actual survival.
THE BIRTH RATE FOR THE CONTINENT OF AFRICA===87 BIRTHS PER MINUTE.
I met a Canadian who had married a youngish black woman in South Africa. We were staying in the same B&B in Dallas.
He had worked as a technical expert over much of the world. He was clearly of a socialist bent, although he had benefited greatly from a market economy. He was about twice her age. From my small sample, he way overemphasized her competence.
I was amazed at his attitude about how South Africa was falling apart. He was unconcerned.
“Oh, the young people are so smart, they will solve everything.”
I asked him about the murder of White farmers -
“Well, you know, oppressed and oppressor” was his answer.
He had interesting stories to tell. He seemed absolutely clueless about history.
Very much a “What, me worry?” attitude.
Do you suppose that if you talked to a FL redneck and a MN spinster you might get two different versions of what is happening in America?
Sort of a small data sample…
