Two powerful earthquakes have struck in the Atlantic Ocean, prompting one expert to warn of a possible seismic 'chain reaction' that could affect the US.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) detected a magnitude 6.9 earthquake along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge between Africa and South America at 8.23am ET.
A magnitude 6.7 quake struck less than seven hours earlier at 1.44am, just 50 miles north along the same seafloor fault line where the bottom of the ocean is slowly splitting apart.
However, geophysicist Stefan Burns told the Daily Mail that the double earthquake was not only historic in size, but is likely part of a seismic 'chain reaction' taking place this year which was closing in on fault lines near the US.
Burns, who accurately predicted multiple earthquakes months in advance this year, said: 'If there is going to be fallout close to land, it would be like something big happening in North America.'
The earthquake expert explained major seismic events had already struck the Caribbean plate in 2026, including disasters in Colombia, Venezuela and Panama.
According to Burns, Tuesday's events revealed how the seismic stress along that plate was now affecting the South American and African plates, causing what he called a 'knock-on effect' – sending energy into the connecting plates, with the North American plate being next.
Scientific research has identified ways powerful earthquakes can affect faults thousands of miles away, providing a possible mechanism for the knock-on effect Burns described.

Very interesting.
I’ve been watching geophysicist Stefan Burns for a few years. He is a bit of a crackpot, but is very much on target correlating space weather to earthquake activity.
We should set off a series of underground nuclear explosions right along major fault lines. Relieve the stress in these plates before they snap. The longer we wait the more severe it will be. Not only that the population centers affected will be more crowded. Just send everyone outside.
These “scientists” are praying for a seismic chain reaction so they can prove how relevant they are. Most of the time being a seismologist means explaining that an earthquake happened and very very rarely does one actually predict an earthquake
The thing about plate tectonics is that the plates are constantly rotating and grinding up against each other. Rock is not particularly flexible so that when the plates grind hard enough the relative movement causes the energy to be released all at once. I doubt that the energy released from two plates grinding against each other is going to cause a release of energy from two other plates that have their own relative movements.
Mother Earf is just making some more oceanic crust. This should lead to a rise in sea level.

Can you imagine a tidal wave hitting the east coast?
Another person tracking and predicting earthquakes is a Youtube channel called “Dutchsinse”. Entertaining and informative.
Dutch seems to be the most accurate and informed.

Seismologists have a similar long term track record as 7thDay millennialism.
I remembered the preview for that one, probably before a kid’s movie, definitely at the drive-in, and finally tracked it down and watched it on stream last year. Bad. Really, really bad. Even worse than Movie Sci-Fi bad.

Saw it back then, got it on DVD.
The Daily Fail.
I knew without looking.
Never been on Ancient Aliens or the Unexplained so I have to disregard him.
Aftershock. Was on CBS.

There was another single made for tv movie I can’t remember the title of.
Out of towners trapped in the subway tunnel said “we don’t deserve this, you New York people do.”
It was as convincing as the love story going on.
