Trump strikes deal with Putin to supply Russian diesel to U.S. and global markets

President Donald Trump said Friday that Russia will supply millions of tons of diesel to the global market under a deal he struck with President Vladimir Putin.

Russia will immediately supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel, followed by 500,000 tons in November, and 1 million tons immediately thereafter, Trump said in a post on Truth Social. Moscow will then deliver another 3 million tons of diesel based on the condition of Russia’s refineries, Trump said.

Diesel prices have surged around the world as Ukraine has pounded Russian refineries, forcing Moscow to ban diesel exports to the global market. Iran and its Houthi allies have also attacked refineries in the Middle East, further constraining fuel supplies.

Trump is under growing political pressure to take action to reduce fuel prices ahead of the November midterm elections. Republicans are facing competitive elections in conservative strongholds like Iowa where farmers feeling the pinch from high diesel prices.

This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates.

Spoiler alert: Russia is currently not producing sufficient diesel for domestic production.

Methinks that this "deal" is backhanded way of telling Ukraine to stop crippling Russia's already-diminished refining capacity.

Not quite.

It’s a backhanded way to reduce gas prices, after the Ukraine increased them by destroying Russia’s refineries.

Russia has much of what the West needs, best to reinstate full Trade and Commerce with them....much of our inflation we have is due to brain dead Russian sanctions.

This clearly and certainly puts US strategic interests in the way of Ukrainian interests.

Meanwhile, the coke-sniffing Piano Klown continues his kerosene bomb attacks on Russian refineries, flipping off Trump.

He thinks he’s Luke Skywalker - but he’s ACTUALLY Jar-Jar Binks.

Trump is trying to reduce gas prices to help America.

Not Russia.

We have a War Secretary plugging for Christian Cowboys to defend our country, yet you’d like an outgunned country to bare its neck and surrender to a bully.

Too bad the Ukrainians are quitters or cowards.

Russia (sponsor of Iran and Hezbollah and partner of China) is the paragon of Christian civilization.

Ukraine is just collateral damage.

And Russia is the collateral beneficiary.

Russia can't deliver enough fuel to its frontline troops to run generators for their drone teams and not enough for their own domestic needs, so from where are these tons of fuel supposedly coming?

He's already let his desire for a deal allow the Iranians to make a fool of him, so now he's doing the same with Putin.

Churchill should just have rolled over.

British resistance to Hitler disrupted American trade with Europe.

And the Nazis had just as nasty insults for Churchill as you have for Zelenskyy.

Trump is trying to reduce gas prices to help America.

He's proposing a craven deal to help ameliorate the political fallout from his own failure to bring the Iran War to a successful conclusion.

We faced a two front war in WWII so we had to work with Stalin. There's nothing that justifies such a "deal" with Putin.

Russia hasn’t enough diesel or gasoline for its domestic market, but someone they’ll squeeze out a few barrels to keep Ukraine from pounding their refineries from Nevsky Mamut to Yekaterinburg.

Why do you prefer gas prices to remain high?

The only ones who want high gas prices are the enemies of America.

Why are you with them?
