TEL AVIV: The FlyDubai co-pilot who officials said nearly crashed a Tel Aviv-bound flight with 182 people aboard was barred from flying by his native Oman over concerns he had adopted extremist views, a person familiar with the matter said Saturday.
The co-pilot was subsequently hired by the United Arab Emirates-based airline, the person said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation. It was not immediately clear to what extent he was vetted when he was hired in the Emirates. Oman’s move to bar the co-pilot from flying was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The attack left the region’s travel industry in crisis, raising questions about aviation security and further unsettling a Middle East already shaken by the U.S.-Iran war . A regional investigation is underway.
The United Arab Emirates has canceled all flights to Israel, complicating travel for hundreds of passengers who fly between the countries on a typical day. Israel and the UAE agreed on repatriation flights, beginning Friday, to bring back passengers stranded in the UAE after commercial travel between the two countries was suspended, according to an Israeli official who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Attacks raises questions about extremism U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters that early information he's received suggests links between the attack and Tehran but did not elaborate. Trump also said that if it is determined that Iranian agents were behind the attack, the United States will “hit them very hard.” Israeli investigators are involved in the probe but the Emiratis are in the lead, according to an official who wasn’t authorized to speak to the media and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Are you a terrorist ? Yes . You are hired . Insanity
Source, AP?
This is so very far from reality, does not surprise me.
Author AP.
Not good source.
“He was on our radar.”
> Are you a terrorist ? Yes . You are hired . Insanity <
Perhaps it’s more like:
Are you a terrorist ?
Yes. But it’s just part of my religion.
Oh, I see. You are hired.
This is typical of any organization that has so much as “toyed” with woke or DEI — and then encountered any objections. They acknowledge the objections, put the person on Admin leave (paid) and then wait until y’all forget about it. Then, they put him back on staff and proceed according to the original plan.
Accept no “pending investigation”. Go to public meetings and identify the politico/bureaucrat who is tied by name to the offending person. And, ask during each meeting.
If you give up, you are the problem.
At least they were inclusive.

ransomenote: The story is accurate. I asked AI to verify the info before I posted it:
Based on my verification across multiple major news outlets, here's what I found about the assertions in that Deccan Chronicle article:
Well-Supported Assertions
Assertion Supporting Sources Co-pilot identified as Hamam Al Hammami/Alhamami (Omani citizen, born in UAE to Omani father/Syrian mother) WSJ, CNN, ABC News, NDTV, Newsweek, Jerusalem Post Previously banned/grounded by Oman over extremist/radical views concerns WSJ, CNN, ABC News, NDTV, News18, Times of Israel, Jerusalem Post Working as co-pilot trainee at Oman Air in 2024 when extremist material was allegedly found CNN, ABC News, NDTV, News18 Moved to administrative role but barred from flying CNN, ABC News, NDTV Subsequently hired by FlyDubai despite the ban WSJ, CNN, NDTV, Newsweek, Jerusalem Post Emergency landing in Saudi Arabia (Tabuk Airport) CNN, AP, Reuters, NY Times, Guardian, Al Jazeera Attack on Captain Smit Machchhar (Indian pilot) WSJ, Guardian, Reuters, NYT 182 people on board Multiple sources Attribution Verification
"Oman's move to bar the co-pilot from flying was first reported by the Wall Street Journal" — CORRECT. Multiple outlets (CNN, NDTV, News18, Jerusalem Post) explicitly credit WSJ as the original source for this information.
"Alhamami left Oman after authorities prevented him from flying... Al Arabiya reported" — This specific attribution is less commonly cited. While CNN and other outlets report he was removed from Oman Air, they don't consistently attribute this detail to Al Arabiya specifically. This may be accurate but is harder to independently verify from my search results.
Summary
The core factual assertions about the co-pilot's prior ban from Oman due to extremism concerns, his subsequent hiring by FlyDubai, and the emergency landing/attack incident are strongly corroborated by multiple independent international news sources including WSJ, CNN, ABC News, Reuters, and others.
The WSJ attribution is correct—they were the first to break the story about the prior ban. The Al Arabiya attribution is plausible but appears less prominently in cross-source verification.
The Airline Crew tried to Set the
terrorist free afterwards and had to be
RESTRAINED BY THE PASSENGERS .
And WHO let the plane and crew return to UAE?????
Why are protecting these enemy countries such as Jordan who would not let the lane land there?
Those Abrams accords are a joke.
Is that Extremist Views, North Dakota he can't fly over, or Extremist Views New Mexico?
(poorly written headline)
Really surprised something like this hasn’t happened sooner.
Are you a terrorist ? Yes . You are hired . Insanity’

The only really effective way to deal with people who kill or attempt to kill others, except in cases where the death was accidental or was the result of self-defense, is capital punishment immediately upon conviction. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Go to public meetings and identify the politico/bureaucrat who is tied by name to the offending person.

Politicians and bureaucrats who in any way interfere with the indictment and/or prosecution of defendants should be charged with complicity regarding the alleged crime(s) and indicted and prosecuted for those crimes.
Hmm. How do you recognize an extremist view from the air?
