Attorneys for U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall this week sent his opponent a cease-and-desist letter, urging the Democrat to take down and apologize for an ad featuring one of the Republican senator’s former patients. The attorneys wrote in the Monday letter to the Rev. Adam Hamilton that the ad, which began airing this month, was defamatory. The letter urged Hamilton’s campaign to preserve documents “in anticipation of litigation.”
“The Advertisement is false, your campaign knew or had every reason to know it was false, and its continued publication is defamatory,” wrote Marshall’s attorneys, Charles Spies and Dahlyn Sugrue.
Hamilton’s campaign, in response, said Marshall was lying about the ad and called on the Republican senator to release all records in the case involving his former patient.
The court docket in Meischa Zimmerman’s case, reviewed by The Star, undercut some of the letter’s claims, including the argument that Zimmerman was arrested in 2011 after missing sixteen court appearances. The docket shows that Zimmerman was arrested in 2011 after four hearings in which the docket suggests she failed to appear.
Marshall has also attacked the ad on social media, sharing an AI-generated image of Hamilton with an elongated, Pinocchio-style nose. Marshall’s campaign on Tuesday also directed The Star to an article from the conservative Washington Reporter that featured the campaign disputing the core elements of the ad.

This is about the Senatorial race of Dr. Rodger Marshall and former Republican and current Methodist mega-church pastor Adam Hamilton.
If the billing office of Senator Marshal went after people who did not pay their bills I think I would prefer him as Senator rather than the man who is always sticking his hand out asking for money or and trying to organize his congregants to force their government into providing cheap low cost housing to people who broke into the country and expect us to subsidize their lives.

The polls in 2020 were not good for Marshall. A media poll taken September 29-30 showed Bollier ahead by 3.5 points. Polls throughout October showed neither candidate ahead outside the margin of error. On 2020 Election Night, Marshall won by 11 points. None of the media polls were close to being correct.
