TRANSCRIPT BEGINS~~~

Susan Kokinda: So, why are Europe and Britain irrelevant at this table?

Because their own policies have collapsed their economies, and have stripped them of any leverage. That was noted with not a little bit of irony by Kirill Dimitriev, the head of Russia's sovereign wealth fund and one of Putin's chief interlocutors with the United States. Here's how he put it:

"Europe can finally enjoy the success of both its Green and Russophobic agendas-no oil, no gas." ~Kirill Dimitriev March 22, 2026

This is not a taunt. That's a statement of physical fact, which even the Telegraph admitted with the headline, "Europe facing fuel shortage within days, says Shell boss."

The EU built its entire post Russia energy strategy on the assumption that Gulf LNG would always flow, because the City of London had always managed those checkpoints just enough to let Europe's Green fantasy be semi-functional. That assumption is gone.

And here's what makes this the Empire's worst nightmare. It's not just that the Strait is disrupted. It's that there are now two energy superpowers who have decisively broken from the Green agenda and the rules based order, and they're not shy about it.

Here's Donald Trump this week posting the numbers on American dominance in fossil fuel production, thanks to his policies.  First in terms of oil production.

Then in natural gas production, again, all as a result of his policies.

 And here's Dimitriev posting Russia's dominance across all natural resources.

Think about that. The United States and Russia simultaneously flexing their sovereign energy power in the same week while Europe scrambles. No longer playing by free trade rules. No longer deferring to Green energy mandates. Sovereign nations acting like sovereign nations.

So what did Europe do this week when faced with all of this? They blinked. Twice.

The European Union, which has been slow walking a 750 billion dollar LNG deal with the United States for months suddenly fast-tracked it for a vote this Thursday.

And then, quietly, with almost no fanfare, Brussels pulled its scheduled April 15 vote to permanently ban Russian oil imports, citing current geopolitical developments. They haven't put that back on the agenda yet. What that means in plain English: They can no longer afford the ideology.

Dimitriev said it best. Green agenda. Russophobia. No oil, no gas. No seat at the table. And nowhere is that loss of a seat at the table more visible, than in the situation facing Ukraine, because the patron Zelensky always counted on is Europe, and in particular, Britain. And Europe just spent this week proving it has nothing left to offer.

The New  York Times, of all places, captured Zelensky's predicament with this headline: Zelensky Sends Negotiators to the United States Hoping to Revive Peace Talks. But catch the subhead: The Ukrainian president has said that he has a 'very bad feeling' about the effects of the Iran conflict on Ukraine's own war.

The week before dispatching his team to Washington, though, Zelensky himself went to London to try and shore up support from his main sponsor. The Telegraph called it his, "Don't forget about me," tour.

While in London, Zelensky met with King Charles for an unprecedented fifth time and addressed the British Parliament in person for the second time. That's Zelensky working his British relationship as hard as he can because London is the patron he knows.

But here's the problem: Britain has no energy cards left to play. Starmer can sign defense declarations and talk about not losing sight of Ukraine, but he cannot supply what Trump's new world configuration runs on, which is oil, gas and physicial economic leverage. He doesn't have it.

Zelensky's 'very bad feeling' is well-founded. The war in Iran is not a distraction from Ukraine's situation. It's a clarifying lens of a new strategic geometry.

The energy and economic framework that sustained the British directed proxy in Ukraine is being dismantled in real time. Europe can't fund it. Britain can't underwrite it. The United States has moved on to a much bigger stage of history.

So, look at the map. The players shaping the new Middle East are Pakistan, the Gulf States, Egypt, Turkey: sovereign nations engaging with the United States administration that deals in physical reality, not imperial management.

Europe is screaming for the energy it spent years sabotaging it's own access to, and Ukraine's most powerful patron is a country which is pretty much out of cards.

They said Trump had no strategy. The map says otherwise. Iran did send Trump a present this week and the old world order got nothing, because this is a new world being shaped by the principles of economic and political sovereignty and led by Donald Trump.

~~~END OF TRANSCRIPT
ransomnote: I gave this transcript to Grok and asked if, "....the key problem was/is that the EU a) realized very late that they were losing leverage despite obvious signs and or B) the EU has been doing everything it can since the spring and it has no capacity to avoid the predicament they are now in. Your opinion?"
GROK:
A mix of both, but weighted more toward structural incapacity (B) that was visible for years, with the acute crisis forcing a late, limited recognition (A).
The EU’s predicament did not appear overnight in spring 2026. The combination of post-2022 rapid decoupling from most Russian energy, heavy reliance on imported LNG (including assumptions about stable Gulf and other flows), high industrial energy costs, and the green transition timeline created chronic vulnerability long before the Iran conflict. European energy prices and industrial competitiveness problems were already well-documented for years; the “Green + Russophobia → no oil, no gas” dynamic that Dimitriev mocked was not a sudden surprise. Policy choices reduced redundancy and raised the cost of shocks.
What changed with the Iran war (and the associated Strait of Hormuz disruption) was the severity of the supply shock. That is why the Commission delayed the planned mid-April 2026 proposal for a permanent Russian oil ban/phase-out (targeted by end-2027). Officials framed it as a response to “current geopolitical developments,” not a full ideological reversal. They kept insisting the long-term goal remained, while simultaneously scrambling—fast-tracking the large US LNG arrangement is the clearest example of reactive adaptation once shortages and price spikes became immediate threats.
By October 2026 the options look constrained because the earlier path had already eroded leverage:
So Europe was not completely blind (A is overstated), but the response was slow and incremental relative to the accumulating risks. The spring delay and later deal-making show they recognized the immediate bind when it became unavoidable; the deeper problem is that prior policy reduced the degrees of freedom needed to avoid or quickly exit the predicament. That is closer to (B): limited remaining capacity once the external shock hit. The transcript’s framing—Europe stripped of leverage, Britain with few cards left, focus shifting elsewhere—is consistent with that structural reading rather than pure late epiphany.
***succeeded politically to climb to the democratically-unelected pinnacle of the European Commission. She thinks she is "building" Europe, while actually making it weaker and weaker***
Wherever honest elections are eliminated this is inevitably the outcome - Stalin, Saddam, Joe Bitem. Contrary: Argentina, Javier Milei, United States, Donald Trump. Sometimes I begin to think that we have lost the capability of governing ourselves, then I think of the alternative.
The EU is doomed... especially if they get their war.
You can have your opinion but it’s not shared, especially in Russia.
Nobody in Russia believes that it started with Pyotr.
Here’s a little link:
https://www.worldhistory.org/Kievan_Rus/
Not a bad description. Notice the map: it encompasses what is now Western Russia. The map changed many times in the ensuing centuries, as it always has in Europe.
And modern Ukrains is a subset of that, as any Pole or Lithuanian or ByeloRussian or Latvian person will tell you. The border wars continue, which is all that’s going on now.
But ultimately the confederation of all those places did start with the Varangian (Rus) Rurikid kingdom. Novgorod was the Northern part and Kiev was the Southern terminus.
People in Russia regard Putin as a Varangian for instance. Some have argued that he’s South Slav himself, and his family line may have such genetics. But he’s rather Swedish in looks, and so he is regarded as such: definitely isn’t a Black Russian.
Of course we could go deeper and claim that modern Ukraina is a German development, but that’s a longer story.
It’s not as simplistic as you claim.
---- "The EU is doomed... especially if they get their war."
In a way, I agree with you. In another, not so much.
When one considers Germany, we rarely think that the government is actually a post-WWII constitution, and relatively new in the historical lens. As are Israel, France ( remember the Vichy? ) and many other nations. These examples make our blessings all the more remarkable, as our venerable 250 years.
The EU -- as in the post-Maastricht treaty group which has morphed into the mess it is today -- isn't even an actual government over a sovereign territory. It is a fiction, propped up by quasi-internationalist support.
I guarantee that young Germans we knew never knew the names Herman Van Rompuy or Altiero Spinelli. The EU -- as a fictional layer of government being held aloft by political hot air -- and its pompous European Commission will join the tales of governments which simply failed and went away. Watch and see.
History is history, facts are facts, and no one outside of Russia gives a wit about what a Russian thinks about anything, except you Russian sycophants.
So everything YOU say is “history” and “facts”, but the rest of us are guilty of sycophantery.
Got it.
And no one outside of Rooshia gives a wit about what they think?
Don Trump seems to. The entire EU does too. Mostly because they have to. They may only be 145M people now but uh...they got nooks.
Ever been to either place? Notice the similarities in their languages - it’s like Bavarian German is to Platt Deutsch. They can all understand each other. Hell, Bairisch is actually more different from Hochdeutsch then Russian/Ukrainian.
Downtown Moscow, near the Kremlin:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfPELHGAozQ
Downtown Kiev:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWrOaI39zEI
They look the same. People, language, streets. If you asked the people on the street in Moscow what they think of the war it would be 80% against. Especially the kids. It’s Putin’s war, and he’s clearly a Russian Empirist, and considers Ukraine a rebellious province. Fact is that he has some history on his side for that. Most Ukrainians disagree and would rather steer their own course, largely for economic reasons. The ruling class there would like to mine the billions from the oil industry, and not share it with Russian oligarchs. THEY want to be the oligarchs...and currently are doing ok with that concept only with the skim from US/EU money. Looking forward to them flowage fees off the new wells!
Take a trip to both places. See for yourself. It’s not that hard.
It is in our interest to accomplish a solution between both states - and preservation of the Ukrainian state in some form should be our goal - and Trump understands that. He thinks Putin can be negotiated with. He can be, but it’s far harder then DJT imagined: he’s up against centuries of history, and a man who sees himself as a historical character asserting his nations rights. So we have to use the fist in the glove to achieve an end to it, without WWIII.
PS, Piffy:
If DJT rolls the tanks to reassert US dominance in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, you gonna be on the Mexican side?
I can safely tell you that back in 1970, California, Texas and Arizona were blindingly White and Spanish was only heard in a few places.
So uh...you gonna tell me the Southwest is historically Mexican...or Spanish...and that the current rebellion is totally appropriate? Xavier Becerra is the Real Ruler of Alta Califas?
My point, more or less. It is an emblem of the New World Order: no country, no sovereign territory (except by 'treaty'), no representative government. What gives it validity? A currency - i.e. an accepted barter medium.
A fantasy supported by widespread acceptance. A war with Russia threatens all of that... AND the EU cannot support a war with Russia by itself; they have spent their 'currency' on 'socialism'. "Other peoples' money can become 'no money!'
Agreed. Moreover, when one factors in the corruption as well as the costs for this supra-state which is not a state, the fantasy becomes clear. Those on threads like this you write "EUSSR" make a pertinent point.
***...this supra-state which is not a state, the fantasy becomes clear***
I hesitate to write this but - it bears mentioning. Notice how much more every day thoughts and concepts become 'fantasies.' More so that the Dems, the Left and the globalists demand that we accept fantasies, fantasies that no one would have paid any attention to 20 or 30 years ago.
My son and I talk about it a bit. Education and media may have trained the younger generation to be more susceptible... and, oddly, many of the younger crowd seem ready to fight, even kill, to defend their fantasies. The young man who shot the health insurance executive; the young man that killed Charlie Kirk. A sizeable portion of the populace believe it is OK to kill anyone who does not accept their beliefs.
My son says that as a young man he used to wonder how all the world could come to accept and worship an 'image' as real - and now it is becoming more obvious. This is truly a transformative time! 👈 🚧 👴
Agreed, yet again. All the more reason to remain skeptical. Voting in the upocoming election AGAINST any and all Democrats and their related spawn is very important. Best wishes.
In which geometry Ukraine is utterly irrelevant because they were a front for the globalist Euroweenies thinking Russia was a gas station with nuclear weapons and tried to take their gas stations away from them.
