The animal driving the mini van could have given the dog to a shelter rather then crushing it to death..........

You’ve obviously never had one. I’ve had two, one about 75 pounds and one about 95. Both were friendly and excellent protection dogs. The second, who died about 4 weeks ago was a superb dog for both protection and companionship.

Rude.

Mine saved my neighbor from losing her hand a min pin mix (without hurting the other dog, by the way) and there was another in the news recently which saved the kids in their home from an intruder after mom had been bludgeoned.

All dogs are emotional creatures, and their experiences reflect in their behavior. Like abused kids acting out badly for attention, dogs of all breeds are capable of doing the same. Pits are highly bred on the black market (causing city shelters to overflow) and often singled out due to being owned at one point by Human trash like dog fighters and gang bangers, treated poorly and taught to fight or fear (when all animals are most likely to attack). I know mine had been baited and used for breeding, but I’m, “the mama” so to speak, and she’s my cuddly brown shadow. She’s never even growled at a person, and she’s been in our home for ten years.

Within the margin of error (+/- 3%), german shepherds and rottweilers are just as likely to bite someone, but this is nary mentioned because they’re not as stigmatized as a breed anymore - they were in the 90’s (I specifically remember the news singling out rottweilers) and in the 80’s great danes topped the list of dogs most likely to bite a Human. Pits are a lot more common than they were previously, which skews statistics largely.

Way to be an independent thinker.

So the police are trying to give her the good citizen award but couldn't catch up to her.

I had a coworker once who had been brutally mauled as a tot by a dog. Somehow her mind closed it off and can't remember it. Plastic surgery as a childe helped her improve on part of her scalp bitten off when the dog tried to bite off her ear.
