It's been a long time since I've heard the name Camryn Manheim. You might know her best as an actress from The Practice, Ghost Whisperer, and Law & Order.
Manheim has a son, Milo, who is also an actor. The 25-year-old was apparently conceived via sperm donation from her close friend Jeffrey Brezovar, who is gay, and who seems to play an active role in Milo's life. I honestly don't care about any of this, but they put it out there.
What I do find kind of sad is a joke that Manheim made over the weekend at the Human Rights Campaign 2026 National Dinner. The actress was presenting an award — specifically, the Ally for Equity Award — to her pal, Marcia Gay Harden, and she had this to say:
I always wanted a gay son. I did. I love that relationship between gay sons and their mothers. I want to be the picket sign-holding mom who would beat the s**t out of somebody for her kid. I mean, let's just admit it: Gay sons are the best, right? Right!?
I have photographs of my son in high heels, in full drag. He knows every word to every musical ever written. His fairy godfather, Aaron Walton, is here with us tonight. I mean, truly, I thought I had this f***ing thing locked up.
But no, nooooooo. He's the only straight guy in his entire musical theater company.
So, when Marcia called me about 10 years ago from her closet — I kid you not, she was in her closet — to tell me that her son had come out to her as gay, all I said was, 'Oh my God. You are so f***ing lucky.'

If that’s they way his mother feels about it then he ought to distance himself from her before she has a chance to meddle in the raising of any children of his.
Never heard of her. I consulted my in-house expert, Prof. Wikipedia:

We must beware of careless pattern recognition; that’s a useful tool if we grab the right pattern, but it can lead us astray if we grab the wrong pattern, due to operating with very incomplete information.
But when multiple patterns converge ....
I invested 30 seconds in a deep dive beyond Wikipedia. One source said that she had outed herself as straight, apparently years ago. But my intensive 30 second search did not turn up any acknowledged or rumored relationships. By itself, that doesn’t mean much; many people, even celebrities, are very careful to keep their private lives private, and they will police websites and get stories pulled.
So what’s with her schtick about wanting a BLTQXYZ=-# son? That also could mean anything, but she considers herself a comedienne.
Given the event at which she was performing, she obviously considers herself an ally of the rainbow coalition types. The fat girl who spent her younger years striking out with men deciding to hang around with gay men is an old story. If men don’t find you attractive, hang out with men who aren’t in the market to begin with.
Geeks hang out with geeks for the same reason.
FWIW, she has lost an impressive amount of weight recently. My guess is that she finally went on one of the GLP-1 medications, but that’s my speculation. That might put a twist on the “body positivity” personna that she’s built over the years, but if diabetes kicks in, ya do what ya gotta do.
People are fat for a variety of reasons. Yes, be disciplined. Yes, get more exercise. No, don’t medicate your inner angst with the Twinkie diet. But some people can gain ten pounds just walking by a bakery in the morning. I know several people who have made herculean efforts to lose weight, and it just doesn’t happen. Modernity is part of the problem; we don’t burn off 4,000 calories a day any longer.
A lot of fat person stories would be different if Hippocrates had invented GLP-1 drugs 2,500 years ago.
So, she wanted a Homosexual son for purely selfish reasons.
She has a Gay friend, the boy's father. One must assume that she knows what Homosexual men do to each other in the bedroom.
She wants that for her son?
She wants a life of misery, pain, one night stands, STDs and an early death for her son, just so she can have a very specific kind of idealized relationship with her son?
I won't go into the fact that the homosexual life is a life of sin that ends with eternal damnation.

She’s a good actress. She might not be a very good person, but she is a good actress. These people are just goofy, at best.
Warped mind. Why didn’t she wish for an autistic son like the rest of Hollywood or is that too passé now? How about a trans son, that seems to be all the rage in Tinseltown today.
She tried to force him to be gay but failed, dressing him in drag and having him learn all the musicals. How gay is that?
She is an absolute moron and an evil moron top of it............
Saturday Night Live did a skit about a California couple lamenting that their son wasn’t gay. That was sometime back in the 1980’s.
She also knew she had an audience of people in that bubble who would cheer her.
There is no negotiating with them. They're mentally disordered.
I don’t care what people do in their bedrooms, but why, why, WHY IN THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS would a parent actually want her kid to be gay??? They are still not accepted in certain sectors of society, and since this child is male, he would be in especially risky relationships as a gay person.
So many gay people apparently wish they WEREN’T born this way, even if they ultimately accepted their orientation.
What in the world is wrong with having a normal child???

...and will be the ONLY survivor should another AIDS-type epidemic hit their ‘community’. Reminds me of the early 1990s when there was an article about a guy in a troupe dying of AIDS...and the reporter was confounded at the fact that most of his troupe was already dead from AIDS.
Yes, they see their children as accessories, and even with respect to their children, it's all about me.
