President Donald Trump shared a fiery string of social media posts attacking Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL) over a viral ad in which she accused the president of having “betrayed” Hispanic voters.
In a series of posts on Truth Social late Saturday, the president amplified criticisms of Salazar and calls for her ouster from Congress.
“We need a NEW Republican to replace Salazar,” one user wrote in a post shared by Trump.
“I guess she misread the tea leaves,” another Trump-boosted post read.
“I should have voted for the guy who primaried her,” a third Trump-shared post said.
Salazar claimed there was no ill will from the president after her ad — telling CBS’s Face the Nation last Sunday that the two subsequently had a “very good conversation.”
“He was a gentleman, very courteous, very receptive,” Salazar said.
But the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that behind-the-scenes, Trump was frustrated with Salazar over the ad. Saturday night’s string of posts attacking the Florida congresswoman seem to confirm that reporting.
Salazar is locked in a tight battle with Democrat Elliot Rodriguez to retain her seat in a district Trump carried by roughly 15 points in 2024. Polling in the race is scant but the two major surveys conducted both show the race well within the margin of error.

Here we are, five weeks from the midterms, and President Trump is focusing his media platform attacking a congresswoman (who happens to represent me.) Salazar has gone from a strong position in the district to probably an underdog.
Since it's way past time to primary her, what is the strategic good? Florida Republicans are feeling stress as blacks and latinos are shifting away, and the best we can do is kick marginal seats to the Democrats? If you don't like Salazar, wait till you get a load of soon-to-be (maybe) Congressman Elliot Rodriguez. Instead of a representative who stands with the party 95% of the time, you'll get one who stands against it 100% of the time.

Rodriguez is well entrenched. I don’t think he’ll lose a single vote. She need to firm up turnout, and this bashing doesn’t help. I’ll be phonebanking for her starting next weekend.

She’s not scoring with her amnesty goals nor her attacks on President Trump and the policies of this administration. That’s two strikes.
It’s 100% clear, that Trump wants to lose the Congress. I think he likes the game of having a minority Congress. oh well. I guess he’ll have to deal with it.
