The first lady’s simple outfit had a more complex message — and it wasn’t that she’s the one who wears pants in the White House.
In choosing pants with a subtle peony pattern, Melania Trump was paying tribute to the “King of Flowers,” as the peony is known in Chinese culture. It symbolizes wealth, nobility, prosperity and romantic beauty.
The Chinese consider the peony the embodiment of feminine charm and perfection.

Even those three former first ladies were able to grasp in those moments that appropriate fashion is subject to the tradition of an event and class is based on more than the height of one's stiletto heels.
Like it or not, those three "glamour girl icons" --- as you call them --- could teach Melania a thing or two about event dressing. Mrs. Trump should take notes.
You had the photos of Clinton, Obama, and Biden removed because they were dressed, appropriately and quite well for one of their State Dinners??? Wow -— you really are a Melania devotee! 😆
