One short-term solution is to have the home-schooled kid enrolled in an accredited school just for his senior year of high school.

In fact, I see a tremendous business opportunity here for someone who wants to try a start-up “one-year prep school” where the students are subject to entrance exams to ensure that they’ve met the standards of a high school junior.
