A $20,000 solid gold trumpet? He had BETTER be doing proper maintenance! DON’T DING IT ON THE MICROPHONE, BUDDY!
Similar thing happened to me, once upon a time. Saxophone, not trumpet.
I was in the middle of a solo, on Alto. When you're playing Alto, you need the G# key. Mine was stuck.
So I just started scattin', while trying to get that key unstuck.
Once it was, I just went back to playing. I have that on tape somewhere.
