A Florida history teacher allegedly tried to “cancel” an eighth-grader enrolled at one of the state’s elite schools for his conservative beliefs – and now she’s facing calls to be fired.
Liz Ballard, a teacher at Pine View School in Osprey, Fla., is accused of singling out the boy as the “conservative perspective” in her classes before describing him as a “misogynist” and spreading the slur around the school, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier said in a letter on Monday.
Ballard allegedly “harassed, disparaged and deliberately tried to ‘cancel’ an eighth-grade student for his conservative views” during her debates — even though he had previously warned her “his parents expressly forbid him to take part,” according to Uthmeier’s letter.
She “singled out this student and in defiance of his parents’ express instructions, pressured him to defend political positions… in front of his classmates,” the pol said, engaging in what he described as the “reputational destruction of a child.”
The educator then allegedly blasted the boy’s family, “openly [questioning] the suitability and influence of [his] father.”
Ballard has been the subject of “multiple” HR investigations and at the center of parents’ complaints, according to Uthmeier, who has called for her to be dismissed if the claims are legitimate.
The investigation into the teacher has spanned several months, Jason Means, the President of the Sarasota Classified Teachers Association, said, according to WFLA.
Ballard has tried to distance herself from Uthmeier’s claims.
“What I read in that letter is not accurate at all compared to the actual investigation,” she said.
Terry Connor, the superintendent of the Sarasota County School Board, which governs the elite magnet school, has not confirmed whether Ballard is still employed.

This is the type of lunatic who teaches at an elite school ranked #1 in Florida and #13 in the nation. Scary.
Seems she has targeted a white male and is showing him his place while he is still young.
She needs to be fired and her teaching credentials revoked but, being that it is Florida, we saw the nursing license restored to that FL ilk who wanted VP Vance’s wife to suffer and be permanently wounded during childbirth.
If the investigation proves the accusations then the next questions should be, “Who hired her, why was she hired, and how many more like her are in place in the school system ?”

Teachers might be able to make a weak case for going off plan IF ALL THE KIDS THEY 'TEACH' WERE TESTING AT GRADE LEVEL. But we all know that's not the case.
Like you, I don't care what their politics are as long as they keep that information to themselves... same with any of their sexual kinks or weirdo community affiliations. The job is to teach the State Approved Curriculum. Period. (I would feel the same way if conservatives were mocking liberal children- not that there's enough conservatives in 'education' to worry about.) Liberal elites have done a great job making sure conservatives aren't hired to teach at any grade level...K through 12 and beyond. Blacklisted because we have a different opinion then theirs.
Liberal elites are such biased closed-minded hateful people - the 'deeper' problems you spoke of. We have the right to protect our children from them.

“Last month, Ballard was listed as suspended. It’s unclear what the suspension was for. The Superintendent’s Personnel Report stated the eight-day suspension was effective Aug. 19.
Uthmeier has given Superintendent Connor and the school board until Oct. 1 to take action against Ballard by dismissing her and revoking her educator certificate.”
Teachers should teach—NOT “cancel” students they don’t agree with!
If that had happened in our honors civics class when I was a senior in high school, that would have been bad indeed! But we had a great teacher, who both encouraged the full range of opinions, and taught us such materials as the Federalist Papers!
Hopefully being fired and losing her FL teaching credentials is a sufficient rebuttal to her struggle session against an 8th grader and his father.
There was a time, many years ago, that I would have agreed with you, and my kids, going to Catholic grade school in the 70's NEVER had to face this kind of insanity.
Today, with the insane "teachers" I'm not so sure.
If I were a parent today, I may be arrested for what I believe is correct action.
