House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told a local television news station in Shreveport, Louisiana, this week that President Donald Trump needs to bring the war in Iran “to a resolution.”
“It’s been a priority and an objective of every administration, for nearly 50 years, to ensure that Iran didn’t have a nuclear capability. Now that’s done. Operation Epic Fury was an epic success,” Johnson said dutifully, later adding:
The world is safer because of it. But now we’ve got to bring that to a resolution. And the Strait of Hormuz not being open affects commerce. It directly affects gas prices and fuel prices. And also you know the price of groceries, for example, because they got to be transported, and the higher fuel prices are a factor in that as well.
Now, all that said, we acknowledge it. We got a lot of work to do. I think as soon as the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, and I think we’re entering a new phase of that very soon, then the president’s right. Gas prices come back down.
Punchbowl’s Jake Sherman, who first reported on the comments, noted of the speaker’s remarks, “This is in line with what other Republicans are saying that it’s time for the Iran war to end.” Congressional Republicans are facing growing indications from pollsters of a possible November wipeout as high gas prices and the soaring cost of living turn voters toward the Democrats.
Johnson has previously broken with the president on the war and urged him to “wrap it up.”
“And I know this administration is working around the clock to resolve that in a way so they don’t suffer any more troop losses. This is a great tragedy — it shouldn’t happen. But it is a very important objective, one that I believe we’ve achieved, to ensure that the largest state sponsor of terrorism does not have a nuclear weapon. That would be a disaster for everybody, and everybody around the world understands that,” Johnson said in a July presser, adding, “Now we’ve got to wrap it up.”
The longer this war drags on the more money the Islamic countries lose and the richer the Western countries become . I’m in favor of anything that slows down the spread of the Islamic cancer. The only drawback is the propaganda bonus it gives to the RAT party in their endless quest for unlimited power.

One thing our enemies — foreign and domestic— are correct about — is that USA is a paper tiger. 🐅 has no will to win any war over 12 hours in duration.
Instead of buying oil from the Mideast the world is buying it from America. Those profits are going to increase our capacity to produce more oil. It will also get the Venezuela oil brought to market as well . When this conflict finally ends the price will go way down because of all the extra production in the West those profits have made possible. Be of good cheer your gas money is not helping the enemy now but helping American oil producers instead .

Americans have been hearing variants of that theme for months on end. It is not unnatural for them to ask, “Are we there yet?”
That's not what Johnson said. He was talking about their current capabilities, not their future ambitions.

It’s tragic because they think “no nuclear Iran” is the only thing people support. So they will all fail to eliminate that terrorist regime which will only rearm.
What an a$$hole. It’s like he’s had Cornyn take over his brain. One does not make public statements at the same time a president is at war. It’s quite counterproductive and treasonous.
As much as I have criticized Trump's dilatory prosecution of the war (which I think betrays a fundamental lack of foreign policy judgment on his part), the real problem is not high gas prices, the cost of the war, etc., but the treasonous, lying, thieving, vote-rigging Democratic Party.
Conservatives need to face reality and realize that without suppressing the criminal enterprise known as the Democratic Party and its house propaganda organs in the media and institutions, the republic is lost.
The next time they win control of the Fed Gov, they will packed the court, pack the Senate with DC and PR, abolish the electoral college, etc. With a packed SCOTUS we will get "hate speech" restrictions and arrests just like the UK, endless mass migration, and an end to the republic.
The Dems are telling us what they will do, so why is that not enough to motivate people?

I wholeheartedly agree.
No one remembers we half-stepped into Fallujah in April 2004 and accepted a negotiated peace on the insurgents’ terms. I was in Shia Iraq (MND-CS) at that time and and remember the palpable disgust on local Shia faces when convoying. “Stupids” was the general gist of it. It wasn’t until the November 2nd assault that the insurgents were driven out and defeated. THEN we had the respect of the Iraqi Shia.
Same same with Iran.
We will have to thoroughly beat the IRGC to have any respect or lasting agreements. Anything less just makes the West look like disreputable chumps to which the IRGC is under no obligation to respect -and won’t.
Right or wrong, as I see it, nothing will move Trump from this undertaking. That includes midterm elections. Loss of congressional support etc. in November will very likely bring us to one of the greatest constitutional crises in our history.

I own energy stocks and I’m thriving. More rigs are going online. Do you think that the average schmoe cares about that versus the reality of his gas at the pump going from $2.98 to $4.47 a gallon?
Not to mention that the inflationary stress is killing bond prices. Today the 10-year Treasury hit 5.12%, its highest yield in 19 years. Think of the hundreds of billions that Americans owe on credit cards and other variable rate loans
This is why we lose.
