I expect the Chinese to meddle with this.

Trump is a genius. Biggest land acquisition since...
AI:
The United States purchased Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million on March 30, 1867, in a deal negotiated by Secretary of State William H. Seward.

Might be a good place for A-10s to spend what remains of their effective life-cycles, and they can always find an iceberg to use for gunnery practice.

Paper is Paper.

What we need are several YUGE Naval and Space Force bases in Greenland.

China, if we could regain our manufacturing base, could be an economic basket case in no time...

We’ve had military access to Greenland for decades, and in fact had over 50 installations at peak.

Securing Greenland - and its mineral resources - ousting the Chinese from control over the Panama Canal and flipping Venezuela are MAJOR achievements which have significantly strengthened America in the Western Hemisphere. These are accomplishments that will long outlast Trump’s time in office.

Flipping Cuba would be icing on the cake.

Another win. Of course it won’t be played in the news as such.

Carney is going to the UN Assembly meeting in New York this week. After his comment last week at the EU Parliament about the ‘3,000 km shared border with Greenland’, it sure would be interesting to hear the discussion in the hallway when he meets up with some of the folks on the south side of the Canada-US border.

And it will be even more interesting if the deal with Mexico also gets inked in the next day or so....

Carney has so screwed Canada, it’s an unbelievable thing to watch....

My understanding is that the military agreement is permanent and binds even an independent Greenland government. In addition, the US needs only to inform Denmark and Greenland of base arrangements in Greenland (not ask permission), and has a veto over foreign investment in Greenland.

This effectively turns Greenland into an American protectorate. If the US went further and pushed for rights of extra-territoriality for its nationals and setup an independent civil administration for them, it would be almost identical to the French protectorate over Morocco.
