A little off your topic having been married 34 years I can offer a little humble advice:

1. If it has been agreed on to exchange bday, Xmas or valentines day cards..never forget...and I mean NEVER.

2. When your wife (or even girlfriend) goes to the hair salon always notice when she comes back....and I mean ALWAYS.

Having been married since April 1960, have long since found this advice to be excellent...

Also, I’d add having your wife love bass fishing even more than you do... It’s amazing how a day beating the water to a froth with spinnerbaits can bleed any bad issues or thoughts away...
Between Maryland and California, there are few major impoundments & rivers that we have not fished...

It is something, these days, that I miss terribly... She had to stop fishing after a knee replacement about 20 years ago...
On any day that I want to clear my head, I run down to the Goose Bay marina where we have our Range bass boat stored and just stare at it... Being 93 (me) and 88 (her) has some drawbacks...

So you’re saying don’t ask if she just went to the beauty shop for an estimate?

My wife and I stopped exchanging cards and gifts LONG ago. First off all, too many kids birthday’s and huge Christmas to worry about, and second she couldn’t remember a date to save her life. I remember EVERYTHING, and at the same time am COMPLETELY unoffended she can’t, so it was just easier to go this way.

If I think she needs or wants something, I just get it for her. And vice versa.

3. Whatever she says, no matter how boring to you, is the most important thing in your life. Give it rapt attention. Let your eyes glaze over inwardly.
