Hayden Panettiere died after taking just one pill that is believed to have been oxycodone laced with fentanyl, it was reported Monday as cops are said to be “zeroing in” on her alleged dealer.
The actress appears to have met with her “long-term drug dealer” in Los Angeles before flying to South Carolina, where she died of a suspected overdose on Aug. 16, just before her 37th birthday, multiple law enforcement sources connected to the case told TMZ.
The mom appears to have taken one pill the day she died, but it was fatal because it was laced with fentanyl, the sources said of the opioid 50 times stronger than heroin.
Panettiere died from a suspected overdose but the authorities have not released her exact cause of death. They warned toxicology results could take up to 12 weeks.
The development comes amid reports that the authorities were “zeroing in on a potential drug dealer” in the case.
Drug Enforcement Administration officials in Los Angeles and South Carolina are investigating, according to TMZ.
Panettiere’s abusive on-off ex, Brian Hickerson — who was with her on the flight and the South Carolina apartment where she died — has already met with DEA officials, according to reports.
It’s not known what Hickerson revealed to law enforcement officials but he previously told police Panettiere had a “bag of medication” with her.
The drugs Panettiere was reportedly taking were redacted in the Greenville City Police, although there were nine different types.
Panettiere, who was best known for her roles in “Heroes” and “Nashville,” had been open about her battles with addiction in her memoir, “This is Me: A Reckoning,” which was published just three months before her death.

She probably wasnt sober when she took that one pill.
What kind of idiot dealer kills off his best customers?
Whoops...
“A lethal dose of fentanyl can be as little as 2 milligrams, which is comparable to just a few grains of salt.”
As a ballpark example: 2 milligrams of table salt is roughly 20–40 grains, depending on the crystal size.
I assume her long time dealer “friend” is going to jail perhaps...
Drug dealers dont ask questions. They dont concern themselves if you drank a 40oz and injected heroin shortly before you bought their pill.
Horrible. One pill could kill.you. why haven’t we read about more people dying after one pill
Surely that drug dealer sold more of that pill than the one to her
Kind of reminds me when college basketball star (and Boston Celtics draftee) Len Bias tried cocaine (or maybe it was crack) for the very first time and it killed him.
Because fentanyl deaths are way down under Trump and closed borders?
Oh I'm sure, but it sounds like fentanyl can kill you all by itself, unless I'm misunderstanding. And if that's the case, he might as well have given her cyanide.
If nothing else, a decent business man would at least let her know what she's taking, so she doesn't inadvertently deprive him of an income stream.
Same thing that killed Prince and Tom Petty. You can thank CCP Xi.
I think that the story of Len Bias would influence far more young people not to take drugs than the story of people have were seriously messed up, even for a long time, then stopped using drugs and recovered. The latter stories just tell teenagers that they can “Party“ using drugs and then stop when they feel like it.
A short video of Len Bias playing basketball, being selected as (one of?) the top pick for the NBA, and then EMTs rolling him out of his townhouse dead on a stretcher covered by a white sheet, would be far more impactful. A death like that of Len Bias is a possibility every single time a person uses “recreational” drugs.
No street drug dealer is “a decent businessman”. Perhaps you were being sarcastic. My confusion as to whether or not you were using sarcasm is why I want every single poster on FreeRepublic who uses sarcasm to alert readers to the end of their sarcasm with the /s symbol. It is only two key strokes.
“a decent business man would at least let her know what she’s taking”
Chances are the dealer probably thougt the pill was oxycodone. The cartels make the pills look like real oxycodone pills and lace them with fentanyl. How much fentanyl ends up in an individual pill is of no concern to the cartels. They only thing they care about is money. And hey, if some gringo takes a dirt nap because of one of their pills, they’re are plenty more Americans around in line willing to buy mystery pills and take them.
“ Horrible. One pill could kill.you. why haven’t we read about more people dying after one pill
Surely that drug dealer sold more of that pill than the one to her”
Likely scenario is that the pills were fake oxy, and laced with fentanyl to give them any effect at all. Fentanyl is no joke. A tiny amount can be fatal. I doubt those who are pressing the fake pills have the skill or technology to accurately distribute the fentanyl additives. No surprise there could be a grenade or two in the batch.
just another Hollywood junkie...
“Horrible. One pill could kill.you. why haven’t we read about more people dying after one pill”
I don’t know about you but I have been hearing for years that just a little bit of fentanyl can kill you, and a lot of people have died this way over the years. That’s the reason it has been so deadly, people don/t realize that a single pill that is too high of a dose can kill you. And it can be added to all sorts of other drugs with fatal consequences.
Dealers don't concern themselves with the quality control programs of their suppliers.
Dealers are middle men. Dealers are retail sales.
Dealers don't know and don't care if the drugs they are selling contain fentanyl.
The people making, producing the street drugs add fentanyl to their drugs because it is cheap and it gives their drug a kick that hooks the user. But the limited, if any, quality control in production practices don't always keep fatalities from occurring from time to time.
It isn't the dealer who is at fault, it is the people mixing the drugs in basement or shipping container somewhere.

.
I was a passenger when a cocaine-using neighbor stopped by a girl selling flowers on a sidewalk. He handed her a $20 and drove off. Confused, I asked why. Answer: “She needed the money”.
I checked with Grok, which answered, “It’s not legal to gift strangers in public in Pasco County (Florida).”
I told my neighbor, who got outraged.
(Confusing, I know)...
Life on the buzz is a short one.
