Because they will lose their shirts, more likely. Anthropic does NOT want “open” AI...
“citing safety concerns over artificial intelligence” Makes sense to me-if OpenAI-or one of the others-goes public-and some savvy-and-insane tech-type terrorist(s) manipulate it to hack/cause a breach of security in some essential infrastructure or other system-major power outage, water contamination-even a nuke facility mishap-and major damage/loss of life happens-Katie bar the door.
If immediate and violent retaliation by the furious people affected don’t send their company into a death spiral, the legal storm/free-for-all that follows will-by way of planet-sized damage awards, prosecutions and prison sentences, etc. They will be bankrupt and out of business in record time-better to sit down, shut up and NOT invite that by going public...
