The U.S. Navy has lost an advanced uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV), and it is now in Iranian hands. Here’s what we know about the Dive-LD drone and its apparent seizure, and its implications.
Authorities in Iran said earlier today that they had retrieved a U.S. Dive-LD uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) largely intact near the Strait of Hormuz. The regime in Tehran subsequently released pictures and video clips of the UUV being lifted out of the water, seen at various points below. This looks to be the first known instance of an operational deployment of the Dive-LD. This is still a relatively new capability for the U.S. Navy that only began entering service a little more than a year and a half ago. American officials have previously confirmed the use of UUVs, in general, to help keep the Strait of Hormuz free of Iranian naval mines, one of many threats that have dramatically slowed maritime traffic through this critical waterway.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) “captured one of the most modern, unmanned, and smart submarines … at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz in a complex intelligence and operational action at dawn today,” according to a statement shared earlier today via Iranian state media. The exact circumstances surrounding the seizure remain unconfirmed.

Crap. Now Iranian weapons contractors can reverse engineer and build their own defective submersible drones.
tru dat !
Not that Fox is the all knowing authority on what’s going on in iran but they do have a section dedicated to the war and there isn’t one thing about this.
My suspicion is iran had to say they had some success against the US because we just thumped a bunch of their tankers.....so they came up with this lie.
Iran to china to costco to my public swimming pool! lol
I’d put a big fin on it for the pool.
We should really stop purchasing Temu submersibles.
It says the IRGC found it. For your information, the IRGC, while it does operate speed boats, is not part of or the same thing as Iran’s actual navy.
They will sell it to the Chinese. The IRGC cant do anything else with it. Hopefully, the US military can remotely delete it’s programming.
It may not be mucb use, because it is older.
“Has this been confirmed by CENTCOM?”
my exact first thought ... btw, my default mode for IRGC claims is that they are total bullshit until and unless confirmed by reliable sources ...
Maybe this was on purpose, so that we can track where they are.
Maybe that’s the one you should have posted in the first place.
It is largely a commercial device available on the open market. The Navy modified it for their missions.
Is Anduril related to Palantir?
AI Overview
Yes, Anduril Industries and Palantir Technologies are closely related as prominent defense-tech allies and business partners rather than being the same company or corporate subsidiaries.
Anduril
Partnership and Collaborations
AI and Defense Alliance: The two tech-focused defense companies formed a strategic partnership to combine Palantir’s data-fusion software with Anduril’s hardware and autonomous systems.
Lodi 411
TITAN Program: The U.S. Army awarded a $192 million production contract to Palantir and Anduril for the Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node (TITAN) mobile ground station system. Palantir serves as the prime contractor, while Anduril builds the ruggedized hardware.
Breaking Defense
Shared Tech Ecosystem: Anduril utilizes Palantir’s software platforms (like Foundry) for data management in its manufacturing and operational programs.
Shared Origins and Philosophy
Founding Connections: Anduril’s co-founder Trae Stephens previously worked at Palantir before joining Founders Fund, where he and co-founder Palmer Luckey aligned on building venture-backed tech startups for the defense sector—a model pioneered early on by Palantir.
Cultural Naming: Both companies famously draw their names from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings (Anduril is Aragorn’s sword, and a Palantír is a seeing stone).
The infamous words, “let no crisis go to waste...”
Was it captured or was it given to be captured? Remember the Pueblo. It seems that it was placed in a position to be taken so that the Norks could get the advanced coding machine that was aboard that had an engineered glitch that allowed the USN to read any codes built using that machine which was not our best but was, in fact obsolete but way better than anything they had.
Maybe it was “planted.”
So much for our real time surveillance that can read the name tags of Iranians. This photo op should have been blown up...
One might think there would be a self destruct charge on these things. Like, if it loses contact for five hours it blows up?
I am sure they are careful about that stuff.
