Or, God is a lot more capable than man and able to do what man can’t even begin to imagine.
That’s what I’m sticking with.
Psalm 147:4: “He determines the number of the stars; He calls them each by name.”
Isaiah 40:26: “Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the starry host by number; He calls each one by name.”
Same for me.
Can’t go wrong with that theory. There Isa video on YouTube discussing time slowed at creation. It’s many years old now. Many on yt of course scoffed, but like you said, my God is capable of incredible SUPER-NATURAL doings. One scientist told folks he had the answer to how blood clotting could arise naturally, without any supernatural interference. I read his whole argument entirely, and it was chockerblock full of SUPERNATURAL sequences and tightly controlled processes. In otherwords, he made the argument FOR intelligent design.
Demski, a reknown scientist in mathematics did the calculations (as did a group during the 1960’s Chicago science convention, that macro-Evolution at the cellu,ar level is so far beyond the bounds of probability that it is essentially zero... can’t happen. (Demski as far as I know still believed though that ,acroevo, union was possible. How he calcu.ated it to be impossible, then not accept his own results, I’ll never know. He had some weird explanation why that did not make sense). Even the group of mathematicians in the Chicago group all believed evolution possible,,but also said that mathematically it was not possible. And that was just for one mutation alone, let alone billions needed in quick succession in order for the myriad species we know today!
Anyways. Yeah, we serve an awesome God!
I have seen it summed up like this.
Was Adam, at Creation, 1 day old?
If so, Was he Biologically An Adult?
God Created the Universe in a mature state, Just like Adam.
That is my understanding.
The Universe can be 6000 years old just like Adam was Biologically an adult yet one day old.
You and me both. If God is powerful enough to create the universe; He is powerful enough to make it working from the start. Period and end of story. Either you believe the Bible is the true, inspired word of God; or you don’t.
>Or, God is a lot more capable than man and able to do what man can’t even begin to imagine.
The one thing I’m 100% on in debates like this is that God is not and never has been a liar; that’s the Enemy’s thing.
Into that certainty I read the two parts of today’s question:
- God communicated the truth about creation to the author of Genesis (probably Moses) who set things down as inspired, limited naturally by human language, his mental capacity, and sheer physical limitations such as being bound to time; and
- The universe (c.f. Romans 1:20) also speaks truth to us about God, also limited by our mental capacity, power of observation, and being bound to time.
Is Genesis literal? Is our Bang theory right? Are both true as currently understood through a mechanism such as this?
Maybe.
Are we meant to ask? Definitely. Unlike fatalistic religions like hinduism or muhammedism where one essentially is told to shut up and do what one is told, the Lord invites us to understand Him and the world (above quote; also Gen 1:26-28 — how can one have ‘dominion’ over something one doesn’t comprehend? I can probably find others).
This is the very core of modern science; we are to seek God and in the course of doing so understand ourselves and the world and universe He made for us. (one last one: Ps. 82:6, we are little children imitators of the God who made us)
So I love threads like this even if I don’t necessarily believe the conclusion or think it’s maybe at best a piece of an answer. People are trying, and that’s the idea.
I concur
I have zero problem knowing that He created everything in 6 days, including hanging the stars in their chambers
