“As free citizens we believe in direct democracy, the separation of powers, the rule of law, social market economics, subsidiarity, federalism, family values, and German cultural heritage.” So reads the manifesto of the AFD, Alternative für Deutschland, which in global media speak translates to “far-right.”
Or worse. On Sunday, the AFD victory in the federal state election of Saxony-Anhalt spooked the BBC into warning its audience, “The AfD in the state is assessed by domestic intelligence as ‘right-wing extremist’.” Extreme compared to what? This “extremist” party got more than twice as many votes as its nearest rival and might have won a majority were it not for a late surge of mail-in ballots.

Sound familiar? It should. USAID spent billions over the decades in showing European countries how to sustain the kind of “democracy” that has kept the Democratic party viable in America and the EU viable in Europe. Although most of that money has been spent undermining “backsliding” democracies that reject mass immigration—Hungary and Poland most notably—the German political establishment benefitted from USAID’s Europe-wide initiatives and ideological support.
While the American media focused on USAID cuts to the Third World, Europeans worried about cuts to the First World, their world. After USAID’s closure, the influential German foundation Bertelsmann Stiftung (BST) published an assessment titled After USAID: Europe’s Moment to Lead that suggests just how dependent Europe’s globalist establishment had become on USAID.
Warned BST, “The withdrawal of US engagement removes a key pillar of democratic assistance at a moment when authoritarian and illiberal influence is rising.” By “illiberal” BST means any party that opposes what AFD co-chair Alice Weidel calls “authoritarian centralism.”
Given Germany’s history, the media play the Hitler card more subtly than here
The BST assessment gets very specific. “USAID uniquely provided institutional support to local civil society organizations,” what we would call NGOs. “USAID could pivot program funds within weeks, reallocating or modifying activities in response to crises,” crises, one suspects, like the AFD victory in Saxony-Anhalt.
Using a variety of cut-outs USAID could play coy about the money trail. “These intermediaries absorbed reporting burdens,” BST observes, “allowing smaller organizations to focus on substance.”
Perhaps most importantly, reports BST, “The US was often the lead donor on election administration, results management and political-party development—areas in which European donors were comparatively cautious.” Results management? Oh yes, we know something about that. Until President Trump began dismantling USAID, most elected officials had no idea how instrumental USAID was in sustaining the European war on its own citizens.
At her CPAC Hungary address in 2025, Weidel aligned AFD’s mission with that of Trump’s. “Let’s make Europe great again together,” she told the enthusiastic crowd. She also commended Vice-President J.D. Vance for his “magnificent speech” in Munich in 2025.
Vance said on the world stage what the AFD has been attempting to tell German citizens. “For years, we've been told that everything we fund and support is in the name of our shared democratic values,” said Vance. He then cited numerous instances across Europe in which the political establishment cracked down on speech inevitably with some spurious rationale about protecting democracy.
Although Vance did not cite USAID by name, he suggested that for at least the previous four years “the loudest voices for censorship have come not from within Europe but from within my own country.” Google AI unwittingly rats out these missionaries for democracy, boasting, “Yes, USAID actively worked to fight misinformation and disinformation globally through specific programs, media literacy initiatives, and policy guidance.”
In Europe, USAID openly aligned itself with the powerful, and that alignment did the cause of democracy little good. “It looks more and more,” said Vance, “like old, entrenched interests hiding behind ugly, Soviet-era words like ‘misinformation’ and ‘disinformation,’ who simply don't like the idea that somebody with an alternative viewpoint might express a different opinion, or, God forbid, vote a different way, or, even worse, win an election.”
On Sunday, “somebody with an alternative viewpoint” won an election. Vance foretold what could happen next. “A former European commissioner went on television recently and sounded delighted that the Romanian government had just annulled an entire election,” said Vance, adding, “He warned that if things don't go to plan, the very same thing could happen in Germany too.”
As Huey Long reportedly said, “When the United States gets fascism, it will call it anti-fascism.” Germany, it appears, has already caught the bug.

The leftist elites in Europe seem to have conveniently forgotten that the German National Socialist Worker’s Party (NAZI) were leftist socialists.
These days, if you are patriotic and support your own country over globalism, you are automatically called right-wing.
I feel like there was once a time when being patriotic was just considered normal, even for progressive liberals.
This suggests to me that the globalists have been winning the propaganda war in some respects.
right-wing extremist == anyone opposed to Sharia Law
**Nope, just not a retard.
Which means that the US Taxpayer was the engine that was being used to destroy the world.
I have long thought it idiocy to imagine that George Soros would use his own money. Why would he, when he could use yours?
Is USAID sidelined? I have a feeling just as much money as going out as ever.
“Far right” AfD-————NOT that right wingish.
How did USAID get captured to serve foreign, anti-American interests?
How many other US agencies have been captured and are now controlled by foreign interests against the US?
CIA?
FBI?
NSA?
Intelligence and counter intelligence agencies are the top priorities for foreign infiltration and control.
Certainly not the Russians. Not even the Israelis. I'm talking BIG.
More specifically the US Democratic Party via USAID graft.
They will still have to win a number of elections to overcome the forces massed against them. And the EU will be working to invalidate their votes.
USAID was truly an evil deep-state organization
With them defunded and dismantled (?) - it’s curious that the last recent 9 elections in South America have ALL gone to conservative / populist candidates.
Nine for Nine. Not one for a leftist.
Just a coincidence??
Just a coincidence??

Nope. Although the USAID moneypot was huge, don’t assume that it’s all gone and that other sources are going to quit, such as the chinese communists or people like soros.
The double smack in the face that was USAID was not only were they supporting/interfering with foreign elections not even for our common interests, but they were USING OUR TAX DOLLARS to do it.
bttt
One day I hope the mechanics behind how every white nation, suddenly, all at once, started importing culture changing numbers of third world savages, suddenly allowed the sexual deviant revolution, and elected feminist leadership across the board. There has to be something behind this. It’s not natural.
Huey Long reportedly said, “When the United States gets fascism, it will call it anti-fascism.” Germany, it appears, has already caught the bug.
I want to know the influence of Grover Norquist and his Muslim wife who worked for usaid for decades! Norquist filled
Bush ‘s white house with Muslims.
[...don’t assume that it’s all gone and that other sources are going to quit...]
It was recently reported that NGO’s have $14,000,000,000,000.00 in assets received from our public coffers.
I think it’s simple. Those and all other agencies are staffed by college graduates. The colleges are left wing indoctrination mills. I summarize the leftist world view as “insufferable self righteousness.” It includes their view that norms and law must yield to their desire to do what they think is right. So put all that together and your end up with agencies full of subversives for whom any means other liberal ends is deemed justified
