Men often get a very raw deal when it comes to child custody and financial settlements. Divorce can certainly make a man unhappy for those reasons. However, in general, what I have seen is that women overwhelmingly are the ones to file for divorce and in the aftermath the man often feels relief and a sense of peace, while the woman who started the whole thing is filled with regret and unhappiness because she threw away a good thing and ruined her life. I think this happens a lot.

Of course, horrible situations (ex. physical abuse) are a completely different story. But this article is basically, “I watched TV and then decided to divorce my husband.” I would bet good money that these women will quickly regret their decision. But the man is likely to be happier.

I recently saw a video of a woman who had divorced her husband and she was complaining that she couldn’t find a man to date who was financially stable and liked being around children.

The reason she divorced her husband was because he worked long hours during the week, and then spent the weekend at their children’s activities so she felt neglected.

Lady, you had what you say you wanted but threw it away. Children are young only once and then the opportunities to spend time with just you and your husband returns.

I agree. I'm hardly the only man who's ex-wife is the one who filed for divorce just to get away and have a different life (no infidelity, abuse, etc.). And the custody battle was awful, which after a few years I one (that part is unusual). And like with other divorced men, my ex-wife was obsessed with me after the divorce (more than she was when we were married). She made up excuses to call the police on me repeatedly, told lies about me to my church pals even though she moved hundreds of miles away and wouldn't see them again, called my boss and told him bad things even while she had custody for a few years and I was paying her child support (making no sense for her to mess up my income). LOL

She is the one who filed for divorce and moved out, so you'd think she'd be first to emotionally detach and move on. Yet she was obsessed with me, wanting to know if I had started dating again, if she had successfully broken my friendships in church, etc. When I eventually remarried, my ex-wife had to compete with me and marry someone she'd just met. LOL He had just got out of prison and is a main reason I got custody of the kids. LOL Years later even after the kids were grown and, therefore, our incomes no longer had an impact on child support calculation, she still wanted to know if my income had gone up, if my investment strategy was working now that she was no longer a drain on my budget, when I planned to retire, etc. Eventually my kids told her they were no longer going to be her private investigators. LOL

Meanwhile I'm quasi-retired in my 50's and plan to fully retire next year. LOL It's a pure Psalm 23:5 situation (she and her mother tried for years to destroy me, yet they realize that God has blessed me -- prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies).
