A new law requiring hairdressers in New York to learn how to do all hair types including Black hair is now in effect.
Starting Tuesday, anyone studying cosmetology in the state must be trained to work with diverse types of hair textures.
The number of hours needed to get a license won't change.
Instruction on how to do curly, wavy, coily and kinky hair must be integrated into the curriculum.
The goal of the law is to stop anyone from being turned away from a salon.

So true...that’s all that’s involved today...and not necessarily just blonde wigs - all colors. Most of the hairdos (the longer, the better TO THEM) seen on TV are atrocious - like putting curlers in your hair when it’s wet and taking them out while still wet, combing it out and believing they have achieved a great look. A look that would have kept me home from school in the ‘50’s if it looked like that...
