Pardon a bit of self-indulgence, I wanted to brag about my Alma Mater, The University of Florida, who back in 2020 at the height of the BLM hysteria was led by a DEI President who banned the "Gator Bait" cheer that had been a part of UF Sporting Events for at least since the 1990s. Now at the beginning of a new football season, with a new Head Coach and new President who appreciates college football traditions decided to allow the cheer to come back. Saturday night in the first quarter the cheer returned to an overwhelmingly positive response hopefully this small return to sanity takes hold and never returns.
A short video from 2020 when the cheer was banned, ironically the cheer was popularized by a black football from Miami named Lawrence Wright.

Aren't regulation footballs brown?
Most of them don't cheer either.
Im glad the UF president didn’t have any more important matters to deal with.
Good riddance
Ping!
Love it - was stationed at Altus AFB in Oklahoma in early 80s and was on our fast pitch softball team, which dominated. In the final championship game, one of our senior NCOs in the bleachers started playing Queen’s “Another one bites the dust” - the woke head umpire made him shut it off even though we were up 8 runs in the final inning - said we would forfeit if he kept playing it. We had woke Karens even back then.
The only winless team in FBS beat the worst team in the Big 10.
“The history of the term “gator bait” supposedly goes back to the days of slavery when it was alleged that they used little black kids as bait when hunting gators. I suspect it’s BS and just junk urban legend.”
It is. If half the crap blacks claim was actually done to them, there would be none left.
That cheer is almost as racist as that Indian Maiden on the butter container and Aunt Jemima on the pancake mix box.
FSU should bring back “Scalp ‘Em”
Good! You caught the “black football” line and posted it so I don’t have to.
I too suspect “gator bait” is a BS fabrication from some liberal from the 60s. As horrible as slavery is, would a slave owner really use a valuable slave to catch a gaitor?
Well, I have a couple neighbor brats I would volunteer....
Funny that UF came up with Gator Aid, but FSU never marketed Seminole Fluid.
Seminade sold well in San Francisco.
