Someone climbed a mountain, turned around, saw their reflection, then the landslide brought the entire glacier down. It'll probably bring on changing ocean tides.
(Then it would just be the normal stuff like volcanoes under Antarctican ice sheets causing melt and slippage or changes in earths axis tilt, and regular long term precession resulting in geologic periods of desertification or greening in places like the Sahara plains, or periods of increased or decreased solar output.)
Krakatau is currently erupting. Its dose of volcanic Ash in the sky should provide some solar cooling and make the climate change people Like Greta feel better!
Volcano discovery Krakatau Sept 7 2026
"Krakatau Volcanic Ash Advisory: ash plume to 50,000 ft (15,200 m) as of Sep 7, 08:10 UTC" "The renowned Krakatau (frequently misnamed as Krakatoa) volcano lies in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra. Collapse of an older edifice, perhaps in 416 or 535 CE, formed a 7-km-wide caldera. Remnants of that volcano are preserved in Verlaten and Lang Islands; subsequently the Rakata, Danan, and Perbuwatan cones were formed, coalescing to create the pre-1883 Krakatau Island. Caldera collapse during the catastrophic 1883 eruption destroyed Danan and Perbuwatan, and left only a remnant of Rakata. This eruption caused more than 36,000 fatalities, most as a result of tsunamis that swept the adjacent coastlines of Sumatra and Java. Pyroclastic surges traveled 40 km across the Sunda Strait and reached the Sumatra coast. After a quiescence of less than a half century, the post-collapse cone of Anak Krakatau (Child of Krakatau) was constructed within the 1883 caldera at a point between the former Danan and Perbuwatan cones. Anak Krakatau has been the site of frequent eruptions since 1927. This volcano is located within the Ujung Kulon National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage property."
I hope they manage to find more people alive in the tunnels the Chinese bored for power generation, but its probably be mostly recovery at this point.
