Agreed.

I'll note that they had a couple Russian-built nuke electricity plants (to enable their nuclear ambitions). They are probably in dis-repair as they were old Chernobyl-style designs.

I've never heard that they have desalination facilities. Taking care of the people is really not a priority of the mullahs. They've been in drought for years, drained their reservoirs, starved farmers of water.

Just like California.

No water management = no crops
No crops = no food
No water or food = privation
Privation = 'government, please help us'

President Reagan's quote about the most terrifying words in the English language comes to mind. "I'm from the government and I'm here to help".
