Americans who may be planning a trip to Libya are being urged to reconsider those plans, as the U.S. State Department has issued its strongest possible travel warning.
The department recently updated Libya’s Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory, warning Americans not to visit the country for any reason due to crime, terrorism, health concerns, unrest, kidnapping and landmines. The overall advisory level did not change.
“Do not travel to Libya for any reason,” the advisory states.
The State Department warns that clashes between armed groups and government-aligned forces can break out at any time — while weapons are widespread throughout the country.
“Prepare a will and end-of-life instructions,” the advisory states. Travelers are also advised to designate insurance beneficiaries or draft a power of attorney.
Criminal organizations are known to be involved in drug and human trafficking and other smuggling activity, while targeted kidnappings and assassinations are common, according to the advisory.
“Kidnapping is widespread, and victims have included U.S. citizens,” officials warn.

Travelers are advised to avoid roadside ditches, shoulders and unmarked trails and never touch anything that could be unexploded munitions.
For Americans who decide to travel to Libya despite the warning, the State Department recommends having a plan to leave in an emergency that does not depend on U.S. government assistance.

Libya should be split into its three component parts: Tripolitania, Cyrenaica, and Fezzan.
“Tourists”
What difference does it make?
Some areas of the world are basically ungovernable. And most of the people who live there wish to be your next door neighbor.
And I heard Libya was so nice in October!
Guess I’d better cancel.
Queue the AWFUL that will travel there alone to stream video to show that the advisories are racist and “Islamophobic”.
“We came. We saw. He died.”
Didn’t cankles in a pantsuit destabilize Libya? She laughed about it.
The AWFUL will not go herself. She will urge others to go and call them racist if they don’t.
Another gift of self-righteous neocon hubris. I bet they are still patting themselves on the back for getting rid of Qaddafi, while managing to excuse themselves for unleashing 100X more bloodshed in his place.

This! 100% this!
Say what you want about Qadaffi, but Libya was not only governable, but quite nice, when he was running it. I know two people who went there.
Now, it's a shithole. And I put it all on HRC, and people like her in gov't, who don't understand the two fundamental rules of the Middle East.
(1) Some of these countries NEED a strongman running them.
(2) Things can always get worse.
But Hillary kept screaming, "Do you support dictators?!?" to anyone who criticized her.
Thanks Obama....
Islam demands a strong man. Muslims are generally low IQ tribal inbred savages. Islam preys on the basest lizard brain aspect of humanity. It takes a vicious violent strongman to keep them under control. Getting rid of Muslim dictators is a mistake. The rest of the world just needs to keep them contained to their own s holes.
“...Americans who may be planning a trip to Libya...”
Who are they ? Idiots?
“Americans who may be planning a trip to Libya...”
Why?
“And most of the people who live there wish to be your next door neighbor.”
And a lot stupid Americans want to welcome them here.
Hillary and the US deep-state were in bed with France’s Sarkozy and Davos to turn North Africa on its head with the Arab Spring. Qadaffi was the last hold-out.
Unfortunately Libya has some of the finest Roman ruins in the world.
Only British idiots would visit such places. Americans are far wiser.
