First time I’ve tuned into your music post. Outstanding.
I am 89 and my mother, born 1909 always had a piano in our house. I know she took lessons and her mother played. But Mom claimed she learned by watching the pianist in silent movie theater in Baltimore or Washington then going home and imagining the movie and playing.of course she played pop and wrote down words she heard on the radio to help her play. She filed several notebooks of words and chords.i still know in my mind tunes and words from 30s and 40.50s I was old enough to learn teen pop and country. Mom was born in Shenandoah and we returned to play there every summer.i quit piano lessons in 4th grade to play football. I play. 3 chord guitar.
Thank you very much for your kind words. It’s wonderful that music’s been such a rich part of your life and your family’s life.
