American Sauerkraut is nothing like real German Sauerkraut. I hated Sauerkraut until I went to Germany and had the real stuff!...............

The real stuff is Polish “Kapusta”.

“American Sauerkraut is nothing like real German Sauerkraut.”

Never able to stomach more that a bite or so.
Too pungent and sour.

Dumped on sausages, can go a bit more.
Wife loves the stuff

In 1970’s there was a little German bar pub near our apartment in Belmont Heights Long Beach Ca on Broadway. The owners were an older couple. Wife German bride to WWll vet who was a light weight boxing champ back in the day. Great place to go for a Brat and Sauerkraut…also German potato salad. All home made by the German wife. It was so great and easy on the pocketbook.
